What are the top 10 division 3 schools that are known for business? If there are any really good D2 schools known for business you can include them also.
Bentley University in MA is a great business school. They are D2. D1 for Hockey I think.
Very few D3 schools have a business major, as that is not a traditional arts and sciences discipline. Some schools have an interdisciplinary major, such as Dickinson and Denison which have International Commerce/Global Commerce. Other schools may have similar programs, those are just two schools we visited.
At most D3 schools, the path to career in business is through an Econ major, and Econ will be generally be a solid department at any top 75 LAC. Beyond that, the focus is how robust is the school’s career planning program, are there semesters in NYC for instance (St Lawrence) or other opportunities for internship support.
Babson.
Why does division matter to you?
Yes. Babson. I should have gotten that one. How did I forget Babson. @Aida
I believe OP is recruited athlete at a few D3 schools and trying to determine whether to go with those schools, which do not offer Business major, or keep looking.
Wash U has a business school (D3). Sewanee has a business minor program (D3). Emory as a business school. Just off the top of my head.
There are many great D3 business programs…
MIT
Carnegie Mellon
Emory
WashU
NYU
Claremont McKenna (has finance)
I don’t personally recommend babson or bentley compared to the above.
The OP has no chance at most on that list.
Are you a recruited athlete?
Rhodes has a business major.
Try URichmond and Catholic University.
Sorry, URichmond in D1 for most sports.
However, some good PA choices would be Juniata, Susquehanna and Scranton. Also, Gettysburg seems to be an up and coming LAC academically and offers a minor in Business.
Also look into URochester, Case Western, Wash U, RPI, TCNJ, Muhlenberg, Ithaca College

Yes I am a recruited athlete. I did raise my ACT to a 31 and all of the coaches I have talked to several coaches on that above list and all think I have a great chance of getting into their schools. The only one that is a little iffy is MIT. I appreciate all of the feedback. However, Erin’s Dad you are 100% wrong in the fact that I have no chance of getting into these schools
Please let us know what your accepted list looks like. I’d like to be wrong.
The other option is to apply to a NESCAC school such as Wesleyan and major in Econ.
As a recruited athlete, the key questions to ask are, does the coach support your application if you apply ED, and what is the percentage acceptance rate for his recruits with stats similar to you. That assumes admissions has done a pre-read already.
If the “great chance” is just the coach’s view, and you have not gone through admissions for a pre-read, there are more questions to ask before pushing ED.
If you are not planning on applying ED, then get clear information from the coach about admissions through RD round and whether you have a spot on the team through RD or must try-out. Our experience was soccer, not basketball, but I don’t think we met a D3 coach who said a recruit would have a spot through RD and not have to go through tryouts.
I think you have a good chance at many of the schools on your list with your new 31 ACT score, and excellent GPA, and recruited status. I played hockey at Cornell many years ago and I’m good friends with the coach at MIT. PM me as I’d be happy to help if I can.
