DAAD Rise 2015

Nice! Which project did you have the interview for?

@h2p2017‌ the ones i applied to were in Erlangen and Osnabruck, what about you?
what project did you have an interview for?

@Gebraroest‌ I have not had any interviews, so I am a bit worried. How about you? And which labs did you apply to? @USCcocky23‌ I applied to Erlangen too! And Heidelberg and Nürnberg. Have you had any contact with anyone about the positions?

I have exchanged several emails with the PhD student for the project I applied to in Luebeck @h2p2017‌ (forgot to mention that place before)! He seemed interested in me but did not specify anything about his rankings nor do I want to get my hopes up too high, so now it’s just the waiting game until they send out rejections/acceptances

@USCcocky23‌ I completely understand you not wanting to get your hopes up, but from what I understand, that’s a great sign(: I wish you luck in the next few weeks!

@h2p2017‌ I’ve also applied to one in Heidelberg. Other two are in Munich and freiburg. Which project in Heidelberg did you go for? I didn’t get any interviews yet either and I’m getting quite worried. I thought I had a good chance with my application

@Gebraroest‌ I applied to the position in the Pathology lab. How about you? I am sure that there is no need to worry yet. I heard that not all graduate students ask for an interview. So keep your head up(: there is no need to be discouraged yet!

@h2p2017 I applied for that one as well! The one for tumor suppressing genes right? Someone from my schooled worked in their lab last summer and said it was an amazing experience

@Gebraroest‌ Yes! And I am thrilled to hear that(: I have only heard good things about the RISE program.

@h2p2017 Well it looks like we are competing against each other haha, well, best of luck to you

@Gebraroest‌ same to you! Keep me posted as you hear back and I will do likewise(: Viel Glück!

Hello. I have not gotten any response yet and the only thing I have so far was that my application was approved and was sent forward on Jan 22. Do phd students usually offer interviews or does it depend on the program?

Hi @bioavailability‌ I am in the same situation and from what I understand, interviews are strictly under the discretion of the graduate student. It sounds like some prefer interviews, while others look at just the materials that you submitted online. Where did you apply?

Has anyone thought of contacting the graduate student themselves? I mean their contact information was provided in the project details

@h2p2017 I applied to Munich, Heidelberg and Friedberg for Biology internships. @Gebraroest‌ I don’t know if I should or shouldn’t at this point. Has anyone else done it and gotten positive responses?

@Gebraroest‌ I have definitely contemplated it, but do not want to be that annoying and impatient student. Plus, we should know in the next couple of weeks. @bioavailability‌ I also applied to a position in Heidelberg!

@h2p2017‌ yeah I’m kind of nervous. I just want to know already.

@bioavailability‌ me too! Keeping my fingers crossed for all of us(:

@bioavailability I thought about emailing but I’m in the same boat as @h2p2017, I don’t want to be annoying. I also think we applied to the same projects lol, I’m sure you’re a student with great confidential so if neither of us are getting interviews, it kind of put my mind at ease

Hi Everyone. I believe they are going through the matching process now which seems very complex. Do I understand this correctly that if a PHD student is interested in you and if you have a low academic ranking, no matter how much he/she wants you, if you are not matched due to your academics, it will not happen? I assume the PHD student knows, when he ranks applicants, which ones have the greater GPA and will be ranked higher academically.
