DAAP Design and Architecture Camp

<p>I posted an initial question in the Summer Programs page, but I don’t think there are many art fans over there. Since then, I answered my own question, so just wanted to share.</p>

<p>We are planning to send D2 to University of Cincinnati DAAP’s Industrial Design camp in June. Our objective is to give her enough of an experience on the topic to see if this is something to pursue for 4-6 weeks next summer. This residential camp is only 1 week which is a bit short for someone who has made up their mind or preparing portfolios, but sounds about right for someone finishing their freshman year of HS who is full of ideas but not clear direction. They have Architecture, Graphic Design and Fashion Design too.</p>

<p>I am a big fan of UC too. Fabulous design program and not the fancy stand alone art school prices. God help me if I have 2 that want to go to art school!! But trying it on is what the 1 week is all about.</p>

<p>Let me add my ID rant: it should be a law that every product with a cord and a plug, is actually designed in such a way that the cord and plug can be rolled, hidden, coiled, or otherwise adjusted in length, and that the doing of this is elegant and not the least bit irritating! Send that thought off to ID camp with your child please.</p>
