DACA student applying to college?

I am a DACA recipient. I am not sure if this will boost my applications because it provides a “story” or if it will prove to be a hindrance instead. Having DACA is one of the biggest factors in my life, so the topic would probably be quite prominent in my essays. Other than having DACA, I am a pretty normal kid. I took the SAT once and got a 1490 (going to retake it). I have a 3.93 unweighted gpa. I’m a 4 year varsity swimmer and a member of Key Club, NHS, Math Club, Book Club, Feminist Club, etc. I volunteer/job shadow at a local hospital as well as work at a law office (where I got my DACA). I’m on praise team at my church and I do all the tech stuff for the children’s ministry (like VBS or their summer/winter camps). In the upcoming fall, I’m planning to apply to University of Wasington (1st choice), Pomona, Berkeley, UCLA, UC Davis, and if I can really push myself, Stanford. What are my chances that I can make it into any of these listed schools?

I can tell you that Miriam Feldblum, the Dean of Students at Pomona College, is a huge champion of DACA students. Tweets and blogs about it all the time.

Make sure you have 1-2 good safety schools on your list since all the schools you have listed are competitive and definitely not a guarantee.

Best of luck.
