Daily Article: Early Decision Applicants Increase in Sum and Diversity

[The Daily Northwestern - Early decision applicants increase in sum, diversity](http://www.dailynorthwestern.com/academics/early-decision-applicants-increase-in-sum-diversity-1.2130002)

Only 48 students deferred. Yes. Win.

Hopefully this won’t come across as stupid, but what exactly is so good about having a small number of students deferred? I mean, obviously there is less competition, is that the only reason?,

AHHHH!! FORTY EIGHT! thank you for posting this! I can’t stop screaming I’m so excited!

And @ark623 umm it’s kinda hard to explain if you’re not in this situation. Personally, I thought that NU’s ED policy was taking a turn to Yale’s, who defers TONS of applicants. This means that Northwestern is seriously interested in us, because if they didn’t they’d just reject is, but they’re giving us a second chance to see this year’s grades! And last year, they deferred about 60, and accepted almost half of them!

I’M SO HAPPY!!!

Northwestern gets credit for being honest and not offering up empty hope by deferring anyone and everyone out there. I’d presume anyone deferred with solid senior year grades should have a good shot at an April-June acceptance.

Yes. This article made my day.
