Dancing With the Stars....here we go again

I think they may find this season’s concept was a mistake. I am not “into” it because all the dancers are already so good. They all seem the same and the judges’ comments are almost uniformly complimentary.

At least they added a .5 to the judging score possibilities.

I haven’t been voting, since I can’t see the show on the night it airs, but I may have to just get the phone numbers and starting voting for my favorites in order to combat the people voting for Bristol Palin no matter what she does.

I like the concept, but I don’t think it’s fair that some people got their old partners and some didn’t. What I like is that we see that even former winners in earlier seasons (Drew) really can’t hold a candle to latter-day competitors.

I’ve decided to start voting tonight because all my sports teams stink this year and have nothing else to look forward to.

Another case in point: Helio

I do think that who they get partnered with is crucial in order to obtain good chemistry and choreography. Gilles, for example, has the perfect partner for him in Peta. Can you imagine if he had gotten matched up with Chelsie? Also love Louie and Sabrina, Apolo and Karina, Kelly and Val, and Melissa and Tony.

OK, I’m not getting the love for Emmitt. I don’t think there was enlightened content.

Alrighty, then. That was not half-bad, Giles! Bollywood, indeed! :)

I thought Gilles and Peta’s Bollywood dance just now was excellent.

The choreography for Bristol was just very simplistic and while she did fine, it just was not up to the level of dancing that others are doing.

For Emmitt’s dance, I felt it was all his partner (Cheryl) who is a pro, but his part just seemed very simple.

Sabrina’s disco dance was very good.

Kirstie is entertaining and and she did some difficult elements (for her) and while she is not up to others, I thought for her age she did well all things considered.

Show is still in progress…

I said last week that Gilles would nail Bollywood, and he did. He’s Aladdin incarnate, and why give him the opportunity to take his shirt off? Whoever picked that for them made a huge mistake.

Melissa and Tony’s jitterbug was very good and had a lot of challenging lifts. The style was similar a bit to Bristol’s rock and roll dance and the level of dancing and the challenge were not even comparable.

Wow on Shawn and Derek’s dance. Excellent. Very difficult. They use her gymnastic skills in a very effective way.

I didn’t see a single misstep. That was perfect. Just. Wow.

Karina is saying she slipped, but I did not notice…I wish there was a replay like in sports! Apolo can really move…seems very natural.

Darn, I thought I had the DVR set to record it. Really wanted to see Giles doing Bollywood :(

He was so much better than her, even before the slip. soon, she definitely slipped.

ETA: swimcat, they’re not doing a recap tomorrow because of the debate. Catch it on Hulu.

Wow, Kelly and Val truly captured the contemporary modern dance. She seemed professional herself!

thank you - I’ll do that

ehhh, I did not think the contemporary was that great. As Carrie Ann just said, the side-by-side work was too revealing in regards to her lack of training.

Yeah, Soozie, Karina went down. Pretty big. And she lost it in the middle of the dance as a result. Actually I thought Apollo looked much better doing hip hop than she did…

I agree that Apolo looked better at the hip hop than Karina and she was clearly not so comfortable in that style. But as Apolo is the one who is the contestant, he moved very naturally in the dance.

Emmitt is the contestant and I was totally watching Cheryl because Emmitt’s part of the dance seemed very simple to me.

3 votes for Shawn, 2 votes each for Melissa, Sabrina and Gilles (brilliant Bollywood–even if I have never seen a real Bollywood dance).
