Dancing With the Stars....here we go again

I only watch DWTS when people I like are on the show. When I watch it, I remember why I get frustrated with it…the judge’s scores have no apparent relation to the dance that was just performed.

I’m hoping, but I worry that it might be Kelly. If so, it would be a shame because Kelly is a far superior dancer to Kirstie.

Hope all our east coast CCers and their families are safe and well!

SHOCKING RESULTS TONIGHT! Don’t want to give it away to those on the West Coast but really unexpected couple knocked out.

yes, it was shocking. Have to admit my personal preference makes me glad it wasn’t the other couple from the bottom 2, but neither couple should have been there.

Shocking and very disappointing :(. And undeserved.

Sounds like it might be time to initiate a judge’s “save”, similar to American Idol?

Keep in mind they said that the “bottom three” wasn’t actually the bottom three - just the couple that actually went home . :(

A good example of how the judging is NOT Working this season.

I missed the show and had to Google it because y’all are so coy. I’m a little surprised but not really. No fan base.

The fan base thing is a bit nutty and not really about the best dancing. To have the top 3 scorers be the bottom 3 couples is crazy.

For me, it wasn’t only crazy and shocking about the couple who was ousted but the 3 couples in the final 3 at the bottom of total scores being the three at the top for the judges is nutso.

The only couple that you really know the combined scores for are the couple that is leaving. My impression is that this isn’t like American Idol where the bottom 3 really had the least amount of votes. The producers can put any two safe couples with the person who is leaving. [as abasket said]

But to save Kirstie and let Sabrina go? Bummer :(

At least this season, I voted for Sabrina every week…last time she left too early, I hadn’t voted for her and felt bad about that.

Right…I realize the bottom three were not necessarily the three with the least number of combined votes but it was weird seeing the top ones voted by the judges standing in the bottom three. Also, Sabrina has done well many weeks on the show and so it just did not seem fathomable she’d go before Kirstie or Kelly, for example, or even Emmett.

Well, I’ll miss her…I thought she was finally getting the hang of balance in her dancing–not just going full bore all the time.

Derek’s neck injury doesn’t sound good. I remember that he’s had a similar injury in past seasons.

An “early exit” all over again. She definitely deserved to stick around a few more weeks.

I think Sabrina suffered from a few issues - she probably split votes with Shawn, her pro isn’t all that popular and she isn’t all that well known and probably had a minimal fan base. I didn’t really like her dancing - she was technically better than many, but she didn’t really entertain me. I wasn’t shocked she left. I don’t think anyone leaving would really shock me.

Sabrina is not my favorite either but I think she is better than a couple of people still in it and was judged quite favorably by the judges overall. (what is she “famous” for?)

I think the judges scoring is so “bunched” that their votes make little difference. I don’t want it to be a straight out popularity contest; quality of dancing should prevail. But I don’t want to give too much power to the fickle judges either. Thier scores often seem unfair on a relative basis (e.g. Bristol getting the same score as someone like Kelly who dances more difficult routines far better). As a viewer, it frustrates me that Sabrina went home. I like the idea of a SAVE for situations like last night. I agree that Louis probably did not get Sabrina many votes, whereas Derek and Cheryl seem to have their own fan bases.
I am glad Apolo is still in. What group of the public is voting for Melissa (I like her, but I don’t see what her fan base would be)?
What did you think of Mark Ballas’ dance last night (I thought it was odd) and Taylor Swift?

Sabrina was in the Disney movies The Cheetah Girls and has done a few other bit part; but the Disney movies is where I believe she is most well know for. In the Cheetah Girls she did a good bit of singing and some dancing, so this was not totally foreign to her.

When you have nieces and nephews, you get to watch a lot of Disney tv ;)

Melissa came to fame on The Bachelor, which airs at the same time and same station when DWTS isn’t on. I think reality junkies are voting for her.

Next season a new thread needs to start- have to plow through years of posts. Hopefully once they’re done with fan favorites et al stars they’ll get back to the merits of the dancing. Never vote and dislike the heavy weighting of popularity. But this season’s dancing has been great to watch. And it is only entertainment.

I thought Melissa was on the Bachelor after DWTS. I thought that the first time, her claim to fame was being a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader, which was odd to us, as DCCs are dancers, not actual cheerleaders.
