Dancing With the Stars....here we go again

I agree it wasn’t nearly as good this week, but I chalked it up to the fact that I couldn’t pay full attention.

Lea has stringy hair? I am in trouble …

I have not been watching the show all that closely so far, but caught some last night while working on a project. I was quite fascinated by the two dances featuring pros----the one modern one with Allison Holker (I think) and another, shorter dancer (no clue who that was)….not sure what that was about, but the technical execution was phenomenal. Also the one featuring Juliane Hough and ALL the guys…The dance was fun (even though it looked like one of the lifts went badly) -----what did y’all think about her costume?

The shorter dancer was Maddie Ziegler one of the girls on Dance Moms. She is a very good performer.

Churchmusicmom, I was uncomfortable with Juliane’s costume.

As for the person who went home…he’s apparently angry, sounds like for good reason. But I think each of the first two went home because they did not seem to be having any fun at all. If you’re one of the “non-dancers”, you need to display a great sense of fun and humor.

Didn’t like Julianne’s costume. Didn’t fit well. I wish the race-car driver would go next. A little of him goes a long way, and he’s already exceeded his limit for me.

Didn’t watch the results show yet but read that Sadie was in the bottom 3. I hope that doesn’t mean her weeks are numbered because she is just too good of a dancer to not go on. She kind of reminds me of Zendaya.

Yuck to Julianne’s costume, it was like ‘look at me trying to push the envelope’. I generally like her but that was off-putting.

Duck Dynasty has such a following, I don’t think Sadie will go any time soon. They often use a disclaimer, which they said last night, "Tho not necessarily all were in the bottom two, one of these contestants goes home tonight’. They put different people up there to make it interesting, not necessarily the bottom two. I also sometimes wonder whether some of the cast members on any given season get too full of themselves, so the producers try to shake their world a bit by telling them they are in jeopardy just to cool their heels.

My husband said Emma Slater, the dance professional, looked like she was wearing a pull-up, and it actually did after he said it, it was the outfit she wore when she danced with the race driver…sort of an old fashioned two piece bathing suit but why wear it, not flattering really for a young gal like that.

I think Lolo acted like dancing was no big deal, so that’s why the boot for her, on top of bad routine of course. Her partner is new, so he got a raw deal. Oh well. I don’t think people like Sharna too well, something about her doesn’t click with audience or partner. When she dances with all professionals, she’s fab, but with average Joe, not so much.

I cant believe Alphonso was not graded higher. I guess since he is so good the judges have to make it interesting.

I also think Allison upstaged her partner. During the performance, I actually said to the dog, “She’s too much woman for him!”

I was flipping back and forth from The Voice to DWTS and missed Julianne’s dance and costume. I like her though.

I think Sadie is adorable, but her dancing seems a little out of control. Maybe it’s her long arms and legs. She seems fearless about just “going for it” so it will be fun to watch her growth as the show goes on.

I also like Erin Andrews and think she is tens times better than Brooke was.

Music mom, agree with all your comments except I’m no fan of Erin, didn’t care for Brooke either.

Also agree with you, partyof5.

LOL!!!

Anyone else happier with the Monday-Tuesday format than the attempt to delay results by a week of last season? I am. I also note they are using more in house talent instead of showcasing others for the professional sequences- budget? It seems to me the show had its peak and now becoming more gimmicky. I don’t think the dances are as recognizable- even the ones supposedly in proper form.

I like the two day format better. I used to like the results show more than the actual competition show. They always featured great talent and you got to see the highlights of the dances from night one.

Yeah, except I heard it was only for these two weeks and then it’s going back to one night again.

Oh, that is disappointing.

Topping for comments on last night’s show.

I didn’t think the 2 scores of 40 were deserved. How about some 9s? Enjoyable, but didn’t think they were perfect.

Also, what’s the deal with elimination based on last week’s scores, when last week there was an elimination based on the same scores?

It was based on last week’s scores combined with judges’ scores THIS week.

I was surprised at the two 40’s as well. The routines were good, but not all that difficult, I thought.

I knew immediately when Gene Kelly’s widow made an appearance that their routine would be given 10s as long as it was clean; the technique was overlooked. The judges were saying, hey, Derek follows in Gene’s footsteps (no pun intended), so they graded according to that. It was paying homage to a dancing great. The blogging girl probably still has no clue why it was such a big deal, some years down the road maybe she will.

I did love Val and his partner’s routine, it surprised me but so did the 10s but I thought is was deserved, something magical happened. Still loved Alfonso. Poor Lea, better hair and costume but the red lipstick has to go and the professional did a horrible job with choreography, a darn shame since Lea has potential.

Betsy also was good, to my surprise, and so was the race driver and even Tommy Chong. I agreed with who got eliminated.

If it wasn’t bad enough that mainstay Len couldn’t be a judge this week they had guest judge Kevin Hart fill in for him? Possibly the worst guest judge of all time. He gives Betsy a 9, Tommy a 10. That’s the best ABC can do?

How does Michael and Antonio get the same scores this week and how does Michael and Jonathan end up in the bottom instead of Michael?

Totally agree with both 40s being a tad over scored but certainly the highlights of the evening.

Please bring back the half-point scoring paddles!

Couldn’t we just stick with the 3 judges who know what they’re talking about? Why is 4 necessary? There is no time for feedback. I have to say Julianne gives constructive things to work on.

I still can’t keep these people straight. I am glad that Derek got an unknown and a non-ringer. The quality of dancing is way lower this year in my opinion.

I loved Allison on SYTYCD but I’m not so sure about her on this show. I prefer when they stick to regular ballroom style dancing instead of 8 counts of the style with something else going on.
