Dancing With the Stars....here we go again

I thought Julianne was very hard on Betsey Johnson. I don’t see how she got a 6 compared to some of the other dancers that Julianne scored much higher. I think she gave Michael an 8? Am I remembering that correctly?

The judges rave about how great Betsey did each week, then score her very low. They say so many things that other dancers did wrong, and then go on to give them much higher scores.

Absolutely don’t agree with the 10s for either dance. And, sorry, but that girl was no Rita Moreno. That’s my favorite movie musical, and it was just no comparison and they shouldn’t have even tried. Past ready for Michael to go.

I thought both “jazz” numbers were just OK. They are crowd pleasers but didn’t have the intricacy and level of difficulty that we’ve seen from other dancers in years past.

Sorry but none of the dances were tens this week, not sure why they felt the need to dole them out.

I really liked the personal stories the celebs told about one of their life changing years, very moving.

Dance routines: The misses: Michael Waltrip, Tommy Chong, Jonathan Bennet, Antonio Sabatino

The okays: Janel and Bethany

Lea Thompson was pretty good and once again I was surprised that Besty had a good routine. Sadie of Duck Dynasty…I’m sorry, to me it was just odd to have the DD dudes involved and I didn’t care for the dance and costuming but she got 10s from all judges. They were swayed by all the millionaire family members that showed up, imo.

Best dance: Alfonso for the win again!!! I love him and Witney, she is sooo cool!

I agree, Witney is “cool” but, for me, not in a good way. I’m not sure she connects with Alfonso or the voters. I think she’s riding his coat tails.

My fondness for Lea is growing week after week. Her ballet training has served her well.

Well, she & Alfonso scored a 10 from the voting audience which leads me to think she connects.

I thought last night was Sadie’s best dance so far. I didn’t realize all the guys on the porch were her family until after she danced. Not weird to me. Seems like every dance this year starts out with a group of pros dancing with them.

I thought Lea was very good last night. And I loved Alfonso! I like Witney and think she connects very well. Chong makes me uncomfortable. Cheryl’s partner is just a pretty face, and Jonathan is the least sexy man I have ever seen–dancing with Allison who exudes sex appeal. Janel and Bethany are just okay.

That’s my week’s worth! I usually read CC at work where I can’t sign in to post. Well, I could sign in…if I could remember my password.

Lea was great. The YouTube girl’s story and dance made me cry. The night absolutely belonged to Alfonso. My 22yo watched with me just to catch The Carlton.

He also watched Sadie, and we were in agreement. Her dancing was fine, but there was no crowd energy so it felt kind of flat. I did not like the costume and found it distracting. The one side was so bare and the other so feathered that it was distracting and made her moves look odd. To me.

Who is voting for Michael Waltrip week after week? So sad to see Betsey get voted off and he clumps along week after week. I predict Jonathan will leave soon.

The same people voting for Waltrip are probably the same ones who keep country artists at the forefront in the reality TV singing competitions.

During next week’s partner switch, they’re adding BURLESQUE to the mix. I’m having trouble envisioning it as a partner dance. I wonder if the burlesque idea came about after Julianne did her guest “strip” routine?

As far as the new partners go, Alfonso dances with Cheryl, Sadie is with Derek, and Lea is paired with Val (I think?).

I think it would take more than Betsy Johnson to get the Betsy Johnson demographic to watch Dancing With the Stars

Who is the Betsy Johnson demo?

I would guess women who were alternative in the late 80’s 90’s and continue to be alternative. Somewhere between the Vivienne Westwood demo and the Cyndi Lauper demo ;)

Actually, my 18 year old D is a big Betsy Johnson fan because she loved wearing her special occasion dresses in HS and also watched her years ago on America’s Top Model… She, however, does not watch DWTS.

Last night was pretty dull. No break out dances. All the men except Alfonso need to be eliminated!

It seems to me Sadie dances the same dance every week, her limbs are so lanky she’s a bit like Olive Oil out there.

That Artim guy, well I just don’t care for him. Allison outdances whomever she’s with and doesn’t understand she needs to tone it down to let the celebrity shine.

The switch off this season was lackluster.

Does anyone like the addition of a fourth judge? The girl last night knows nothing about dancing yet she talked the most. I don’t care about her opinion! They might as well stick ticket taker or the custodian in the judge’s seat. It’s just a waste.

I think the role of guest judge is to represent those of us watching who also are not professionals. I find their viewpoint interesting. Plus, the artist who was the judge last night did a great job of moving/dancing while she sang (NO easy feat, by the way!!), so I think her opinions carried some weight.

I thought Jessie J’s opening performance was the highlight of the entire evening. I liked last week’s format for guest judge, having the viewers vote.

Yes, I cant believe she received such high scores!
