Hmmmmm . . . Sadie does The Time Warp? cause THAT’S wholesome 8-X

A new record- 5’s in week 7. Too bad he got the extra points by being on the top team. Len had a great point about the dancing needing to conform to the dance style instead of being so much showmanship and gimmicks. Time to decrease the weight of the audience votes. This show has really deteriorated. It could have staying power if they kept the standards instead of trying to become entertainment instead of a true competition. I wonder if some potential stars are unwilling to be associated with the popularity contest it has become?

PS- I sure hope someone from ABC reads this thread.

I absolutely loved both team dances. Great performances, fun to watch.

Individual dances: Len was exactly right saying Leah and her partner didn’t have chemistry. We all know if Derrick was with her, she’d be having knock out routines. I want to mention that in the team dance, she looked fabulous in the spidery outfit and glammed up hair. That type style is how she should be dressing for all her routines, glitzed out like that, she can pull it off.

I totally loved Bethany and Derrick. Also loved Janels “pretty little liars” number. Alfonso was okay, I just don’t find the rumba to be a very interesting or exciting dance. Tommy Chong had a nice routine.

Imo, the show has always been about entertainment. If a real competition heats up, all the better, but I don’t think it was ever the primary goal of the show. It’s always been a little tongue in cheek. That said, I agree, the show has seen better days. The 5 s in week 7 indicate how bad the dancing has been this season.

I’m already sick of Halloween and it doesn’t begin for a few more days. Talk about the theme taking over the show… Derek really deserves to win this season. Of all the remaining female dancers, Bethany probably has the least natural ability. She did not stand out early on. Derek is in a class by himself-- choreographer, teacher, motivator, worker.

I live in the Dallas area and our local affiliate actually showed Monday night football instead of DWTS (even though the game was also on ESPN.) Grrr. (Plus, the Cowboys lost.)

Tommy Chong is fine and all, and Lord bless him for being able to do what he does at his age. But he needs to be gone as well…. the scores for him were way to high tonight, IMO.

I had some other things going on yesterday so I only saw bits and pieces of the show last night. I will check online for Alfonso and Sadies performances.

On the dances I saw: Leah had no wow factor. Janel’s routine was okay tho judges were crazy about it. As for Bethany, it was kind of hard for me to think of Lucy Ricardo all busting out with the cleavage and shaking her booty. The theme of Lucy and Ricky didn’t meld with the sexy style dance. Emma and Mike, I got tired of her tears. They ought to pair her with a young dude and then she’ll be crying when she realizes how frustrating it is to be paired with someone so much older. I didn’t watch the couples dance off.

Glad to see the more awful dancers finally getting voted off.

Who was axed? I was busy watching Monday Night Football.

Thank goodness Michael is gone. He was painful to watch. Tommy should be next.

Thank you for pointing out the lack of wow factor with Lea. I couldn’t put my finger on it. Her dance was good, but I still left it feeling flat. I also wasn’t as thrilled with Janel’s routine as the judges.

Everything Derek touches is gold. He could make a lot more money being an NFL coach. He seems to have the ability to pull the very best from his partners. I liked the dance a lot but didn’t love it.

Alfonso was good. I liked parts of it more than others. Same with Sadie.

While I know Tommy won’t win I hope he sticks around for a couple more weeks. He’s one of the reasons I watch the show. While the women are better dancers I really don’t like some of them all that much.

Does anyone out there NOT think Alfonso will win? Glad to see Janel get back in the running amongst the women. Did Erin Andrews not ask the dumbest question when interviewing Lea and asking her where she thought she ranked in the competition? Awkward. Liked how Erin’s interview got cut out, rather than eliminating one of the judge’s comments, when show was running over in the allotted amount of time. Why didn’t they think of this sooner? Wonder how much of the “strategy” in the dance-off is determined by the producers in advance? Sadie kind of shot herself in the foot when she picked going up against Bethany. If it’s really the 3 points you’re after, pick someone you know you can beat! I thought they should have used the twitter votes to decide any ties by the judges, even though head judge Len is a darned good judge.

I am rooting for Alfonso, but I don’t think it’s a slam dunk. One season, I rooted for Zendaya the entire time yet watched as Kelli Pickler improved week after week. During the free style, Kelli was so super amazing I was glad she won. So my opinion on Alfonso could change in that last week. We’ll have to see.

I got a chance to watch Alfonso and also Sadie’s dances, and they were okay. I’m not a big fan of that contemporary dance style (Sadie). Apparently, the media is trying to make something out of the costuming that Sadie wears, hyping it up like it’s risque. The Eve outfit last night was modest, I mean, I’m sure the girl doesn’t wear a 1920’s bathing suit when she hits the beach!

Yes, I mute Erin’s jibber jabber, they can cut her out any time. And at this point, I don’t think it matters much about Sadie and Bethany competing for this week’s points, they will both go on to the next round. The professionals that are smart have been doing just the right amount to get by, with a touch of dazzle here and there; but after next week, when I think Tommy should be voted off, I think Derrick and Mark will start pulling out all the stops and Val will be right behind, hopefully Witney, too.

It always comes down to the freestyle, which should favor Alfonso and Janel over the others, but Bethany could be a pleasant surprise. After all, look who she’s paired with…

I heard that Alfonso re-injured his groin muscle last night during his performance. I hope that doesn’t sideline him. I’m liking him more and more with each week and I hope he wins.

I’m just now watching this week’s show. Did anyone notice in the dance-off when Sadie picked Bethany and they picked the cha-cha, that both were already wearing cha-cha costumes with the fringe and all? Obviously pre-determined.

Wow, some of the dances tonight were H.O.T. Tommy clearly is the worst dancer and should have gone home, but Lea just lacks charisma (though she has great legs!). I was glad that the lesser-known Bethany and Janel are sticking around. They are dancing so well and have shown such growth.

I was glad Tommy made it one more week. I think he has more personality than Lea. I think he will be voted off next week.

Bless his heart, I sure hope so. It would be a shame to see any of the remaining dancers go before he does.

Individual dances were okay and then the threesomes started and I was impressed by many. Alfonso-powerful! Bethany-amazing! Janel-sizzling and oh so sexy!

Janel shows such depth in her dances and always seems to deliver. Sadie’s reaction when each judge kept scoring her 10 points for the threesome was priceless.

It is a joke that Tommy Chong made it to the semifinals.

Taking Tommy out of the equation, I do not recall any previous seasons that had 4 dancers remaining at this stage that were so strong and closely matched. It would have been an even more unbelievable top-5 if Lea had remained instead of Tommy. Also, was there ever a prior season when Len gave out so many 10s?
