Dancing With the Stars....here we go again

I started flipping once the game started, missy, skipping the sappy stories.

Patti needs to be next to go. What is she doing?

And it was a great basketball game!

I thought Len spent way too much time criticizing Derek and Nastia’s A. Tango content. He could have slipped in his point, without it dominating his critique, and scored them a 9 instead of an 8. Always feel sorry for the star when choreography is not to a judge’s liking. I was a little embarrassed for Nastia since her parents were in attendance. Thought it was a jaw-dropping performance but perhaps better suited for a freestyle routine.

I will also be catching up on the remainder of the performances later…

saintfan, I agree with your assessment about Suzanne.

Not a basketball fan, so yes, I was tuned in to DWTS. Hope the team you were rooting for won, tho (Duke, was it?). I did like the stories behind most memorable year; some seemed more sincere than others, but it does give you a bit more insight into each celebrity.

Despite whatever exercise videos she made in the past, I think what surprises me about Suzanne is that she isn’t as flexible. I don’t think she brings a repertory of her own moves. At least they’re playing to Patti’s strengths- she can wiggle and the fringe helps.

Can someone tell me if Rumer has an extensive dance background? I haven’t found the answer.

I saw her on a talk show where she said she hadn’t had dance training. I find that difficult to believe, really.

Very hard to believe. She’s wonderful.

I often wonder if they criticize a strong couple so that the audience is still motivated to vote rather than assume they are a sure thing.

I think Len is just a “no gimmicks just dance ballroom” kind of judge.

Sam did not have the grace of other football players who have been on the show, his being out is no surprise. I flipped to the Badger game later (note the way I refer to it) as the end moments are always much more important to watch while the dancing was see it now or never for me.

I have always disliked the popularity aspect of the show. But- it is there for entertainment and one way to keep viewers is to let them have a stake in things. I have never voted. I agree with Len about keeping the dance elements intact That is what makes it harder- to learn the specific style, not just be flashy.

I missed half the show. Bummed Patti didn’t go home, but I was OK with who did.

How did Robert dance this week?

ETA: I just heard he’s at the bottom of the leader board so it must have been bad!

One: Mary Poppins is one of the best movies ever made. So I didn’t care for Kym showing all the cleavage, didn’t seem appropriate. She should have dressed as a woman chimney sweep. I really like them both but sad to say her & Robert’s dance was disastrous.

Suzanne looked much better glammed up, but very poor dancing.

Still lovin me some Patti LaBelle.

Found Nastia ho-hum. Not a fan of Mark’s rabbit get-up or his and Willow’s routine. Rumor was okay to watch but I wasn’t thrilled; didn’t care for the costume. The bachelor wasn’t bad.

I really liked Noah and Sharna’s dance; they have a certain kind of chemistry that is appealing.

Julianne looked fabulous, pink hair and all; loved her dress.

Two: Pirates of the Caribbean music is the best! Riker as Jack Sparrow is the best! Riker & Allison’s dance was the best!

I didn’t know who Robert was going in but he is kind of growing on me. I am on the west coast so will have to wait a bit

I need a little “R and R” this season…
Rumor and Ryker!

What did they have to do this week to get a 10 from Len???

I wasn’t a fan of the animation included in the dances. A bit too gimmickey for me. Too hokey for the most part.

Yeah, all the animation and silliness (like the Alice in Wonderland “drink me” bit) was goofy (see what I did there??). As for the dances, Ryker was crazy good, also Rumor (though I thought she looked a bit frenetic…like the music was faster than it should have been). I keep wanting Chris to improve but, poor guy, he’s not really doing that. I wonder if he’s regretting being on the show?

I actually went on to ABC.com last night during the show to do the “all access” thing and it’s really pretty fun. You can choose different camera angles to watch from (backstage, the judge’s table, etc) plus listen in on whoever is in the interview area. I enjoyed that.

Even tho they mention it every show, it never dawned on me to that, churchmusicmom, but will try to remember next week and give it a try.

I just finished reading Derek Hough’s book “Taking the Lead: Lessons from a Life in Motion”. It was surprisingly SO good. Derek’s a ball of energy & accomplished so much already and he won’t even turn 30 until next month! He has three older sisters; Julianne is younger ( each is more beautiful than the next); growing up around all those women is one reason I think he connects so well with his partners.

Looking at the list of his dance partners, I realized he doesn’t always get the top of the line contestant; some I’d even forgotten about: Jenny Garth, Shannon Elizabeth, Brooke Burke, L’il Kim, Joanna Krupa, Nicole Sherzinger, Jennifer Grey, Ricki Lake, Maria Menounous, Shawn Johnson, Kelli Pickler, Amber Riley, Amy Purdy, Bethany Mota, Nastia

Robert received low scores but he always looks like he’s having a great time; high on entertainment value. But I agree, why must we have Very Sexy Mary Poppins?

Noah is really growing on me. At first I felt so bad for him, fearing that he would get pity scores. But now he’s touching me. You can tell by his demeanor that he’s a major stud (if that’s not a sexist thing to say); but he’s making himself so vulnerable on live TV. Like I said, touching.

I thought I spotted at least one pretty big mistake in Riker’s dance, but he is so ALL IN that you’ve got to love watching him.

Witney’s Bachelor partner just doesn’t have it. But my, is W. ever beautiful!

Loved Derek and Nastia’s dance. It did look like Disney animation come to life.

Even though both Derek and Nastia are dancing well, I think this comes from their inherent dance ability. It kind of feels like they are phoning it in. Again, both great dancers, so even a phone call looks great, but I don’t feel the same “Derek” level choreography and innovation in his dances this season.

I like Noah a lot.I want to know why Noah’s prosthetic leg doesn’t bend at the knee. There are amputees who can run on a prosthetic limb. I don’t get it. Plus, I think his choreographer could do a better job catering to his limitations.

I’m glad Patty is still around, but I predict it will be the bachelor (whathisname) going next week and then Patty.

Really can’t call a winner. Riker, Rumor and Willow all look good.

I guess if I’m going to support my 2 faves, I should probably learn to spell their names correctly: Riker with an “i”, Rumer with an “e”!
