Sad day.

I am dismayed, although every time I have heard him lately on NPR I wondered how much longer he would be with us. D1 is on a plane tonight, and I know she hasn’t heard. She will be very sad… she wrote one of her college essays about him.

If you haven’t ready his autobiography “Staying Tuned: A Life in Journalism”, it is fascinating. He had a front row seat to a lot of amazing events in history. I did read some negative comments about him in Leslie Stahl’s autobiography, but on the whole I am still a very big fan.

NPR will be having an hour-long tribute to him at 8 pm eastern time.
