There are many dark horses I’m thinking about; they’re very strong, but ones I didn’t ever expect to go to. I live in FL, and this school called “The New College of Florida” is supposedly very good all around. If anybody has heard of that or has an opinion of it, please let me know! Thanks. Also, list some of your dark horse colleges, I’m interested to know.

New College is a fine school if you want that sort of learning experience. I’ve been told that it’s great if you are self-motivated.

New College is seen as good from where I am in Florida, especially as basically the only public option for someone seeking an LAC-type experience.
However, some criticize it due to lack of overall breadth/weakness in certain majors, and more importantly, worry that lack of letter grades will hinder admission to non-Florida grad schools.

New college has always walked to the beat of its own drum. How refreshing is all I can say. Learning for the sake of earning. Sounds like something Jefferson or Franklin would agree to. Einstein too if you read the new Bio.

Grad school will not be a problem. New College has a national reputation. But you have a point about depth for certain majors.
