Dart Bord used in Admissions Process at UC?

So I have been looking at all the UCLA accepts (congrats) and rejects and it doesn’t seem to be very consistant. On one post ill see a 1480 SAT rejected and several posts later a 1260 accpeted, and both have high GPA’s. It makes me wonder if there using some creative ways of weeding out applicants in the sunshine state. Dartboards? Lawndarts? Draw names out of a hat?

^^^^^ I Totally Agree!!

thanks, pinback is such a good band btw

of course i didn’t get in, my dad’s a doctor!

How come I see all these people saying they didn’t get in to a UC because “White” or “Asian” or “Im black so i got in”. Last time i checked aff action was outlawed by Prop 209 i think

exactly, there is no correlation between anything, which is why the topic of this forum is what it is.

oh you applied to that alumni thing? how was that? yeah it’s prob ucsc for me yay.

hahhahaa yeah it was great man! go banana slugs! go aggies! go…santa barbara! better yet…fu(k yeah san francisco state! whoo hoooo

woohoooooooooooo! i like bananas…isnt it the fruit that has the most sugar content…eating it before sports is coooool!

i dont like banas but theyre GREAT in smoothies! oh sports…why did i ever play you? obviously they dont count because nobody cares! i should go do some coke w/ my fellow sdsu-ers! yeahhh!! sdsu! sf state! chico!

by some of you comments it seems I got in (I’m latino) right?
ScubaSteve,
yes, they are using some creative ways to weed out applicants… one of the most important (in my opinion): MAJORS! I you look around most people only post their stats, and not very many post their majors.

yeah totally agree with the smoothie part…i like jamba juice but i heard that it has this peanut butter one thats 1000 calories!! im not health obsessed but all that in a drink…crazy! sports are awesome…i can say a few in french…quite a talent. coke? i like coca cola but powder form comes a close second…oooh you know what other drink i like? smoothies! and grape soda! and orange soda! i heard somewhere that orange coloring is the most poisonous type of food coloring…weird huh?

yeah thats so weird! i drank some green food coloring in my ap environment class last week…silly ap environment! who cares if i get a 5 on the test because ucla rejected me! whoo hoo! coca cola is good but pepsi is far superior… and juice stop and jamba juice are tied at first for my favorite local smoothie corporations

choosing a major could have been the problem but most likely not b/c UCLA always has good competition in each major. some people got accepted and some didnt but by what i have seen 1st gen low income and race have all been major factors aff. action may be illegal but it is still seen i have no problem w/ it but sometimes it may not be fair.

ohhh corporations?? HATE corporations…but inevitable i guess…there are starbucks literally on every block where i live…one next door actually. easy corp access. have you seen that documentary, “the corporation”? it rules. drank food coloring? yikes…did you turn green like that girl in charlie and the choc factory? oh wait she turned blue. ihateuclatoo yay. pepsi is too sweet for me but do you know what arent? smoooothhiees!!

starbucks has good mocha frappuccinos. i put political science. wrong choice yes? who else wants to room with pinback and i next year at wherever we end up? we’re probably the coolest people you’ll ever meet!!

i like caramel mochiattas (sp?). yeah im totally braindead right now…we will continue on our messages o fun so keep on refreshing! yeah poopoo on you ucla bio.

Ehh screw UCLA… I’m happy nonetheless to go to my other schools that I got into, so that’s all that really matters.

Their loss anyway.

What is inherently wrong with corporations?

I agree that some businesses (whether corporations, partnerships, or self-owned) lack ethics. But the fact that a business is incorporated doesn’t make it evil.

The Salvation Army is a corporation. Google is a corporation. Harvard University is a corporation. Encyclopedia Britannica is a corporation.

I don’t blame you for saying that you “hate corporations.” Hyper-liberals criticize these businesses as a full-time job. It’s easy to parrot this without ever understanding what they’re complaining about. I know you’re smarter than this; use your intelligence!

That is because the stats are not the whole picture. But seriously, ucla uses a kaballistic system (devised by madonna) that involves your gpa, mother’s maiden name, the number of fleas on your dog, and how many video games you have mastered. That system has recently replaced the dart board used primarily in the 80’s
