**Dartmouth 2014 Waitlist Thread**

Surely the email closing off the waitlist will arrive between now and 5 PM?

guess not . . . :/

Well based on the email that they last sent to us, they have until tomorrow at midnight to contact us before we can exactly call them liars.

I have been getting all of my emails from Dartmouth between 9 and 10 pm eastern time. I don’t know if its been the same for any of you. I am going out for a movie tonight, so hopefully when I get back I will have an email.

Nothing yet, huh? That’s really strange - most of their early deadlines about updates and stuff have been delivered on time. Hopefully this is good news – maybe they’re still considering accepting a few more off the waitlist. Otherwise, I’m not sure why they would still be keeping us waiting.

Oh, scratch that. For some reason I thought their email said they would get back to us by the end of June. Nevermind, they still have a little while to stick to that deadline!

Guess an update will come today? 6 PM EST latest?

It seems that a few people were admitted last Thursday, and the admissions committee has been giving accepted waitlistees one week to decide, so today is that one week mark. Today is exactly three weeks after we got the last email, saying they would hopefully close all candidacies within three weeks.

Rejected.

It’s over.

Oh well. The chances were always low.

Congrats once again to all those who made it, and all the best to everyone! =)

Dear XXX,

I’m writing today to inform you that we will not be able to be offer you a place in Dartmouth’s entering class.

Through the many weeks of this extended selection period we have kept close track of the composition of the class and the candidacies of those who have remained on our waiting list. This year we experienced a higher than anticipated response rate to our initial offers of admission, and were able to make only a small number of additional offers. Your candidacy was carefully considered during our waiting list review. Unfortunately, there were very few opportunities for candidates on our waiting list.

I understand that you had hoped to receive more positive news from me, and I sincerely appreciate your interest and patience. Our hope in notifying you now is that it will allow you to move forward with your plans to matriculate at another college or university.

Best wishes for the summer and your future educational endeavors.

Sincerely,

Maria Laskaris
Dean of Admissions
and Financial Aid

Not what we hoped for guys, but it’s okay. Wish I had just gotten rejected 3 months ago.

I will be heading to Bowdoin, where are you guys going?

Just received the letter as well.

I’m headed to Washington. Perhaps I’ll knock on my reach schools (Yale, Dartmouth, others) again for transfer or graduate studies. Good luck to all the rest of you!

Received the same email.

Oh well. Very disappointing, but I’ve been set on my current school for a LONG time now. It’s perfect for me. :)

samee sigh well everyone i know we’ll all do great! :D

Harvey Mudd (google it).

Glad this nightmare is over.

boo hoo life sux… now it’s time to hear ap score results

Finally got that last email too. About time. I am heading to Middlebury and honestly could not be happier.

Is it just me or are you guys feeling depressed at odd hours in the day/week… I cannot help but mope around the house about this rejection. Everyone tells me to get over it, but nothing changes how I really feel.

Just not good enough.

Did anyone from CC actually get in off the waitlist!

i know of two girls who got off the waitlist by the end of june.
hopeful: my daughter didn’t get her first choice, either-- the place she had invested in for a long time. she’s now happy with her outcome, but it takes time. by the fall, when you are busy with classes and new friends, it will begin to feel like a more distant memory.
