<p>And what I find funny is that they forgot to BCC the other NJ students. So I have a list of these other kids.</p>
<p>Is the list long? Last year my son received an email inviting him to a similar Annual Holiday Reception. But guess what? The email was received at about 6pm on Friday Dec 8. Yup at 3pm my son had just found out that he was accepted and was still stunned when he received the invitation at 6pm. The Party was the very next day i.e. Saturday Dec. 9. So basically there was less than 24 hour notice.
President Wright was a guest and the area committee said they could not send out the emails before 3pm on Dec. 8. They called on Saturday morning to follow-up on the invitation.</p>
<p>So… not to get your hopes high but I think the chances of you being accepted seems pretty good(unless that CC list that you see is soooooo long). They have to have that disclaimer on that invitation.</p>

<p>Now that you mention it, it does make sense that it is their version of a likely letter. Only 13 students on there, and one person that I know applied early to Dmouth from my school isn’t on the list.</p>
<p>I don’t know how much you can infer from this. I think they had some complaints for such short notice last year, so this year, they are sending them out early to all applicants. Simply applying ED proves that you have a strong interest in the school, and makes you a part of the Dartmouth Family. So, they don’t mind sending it to all applicants. I just have a hard time believing that they would release decisions early to anyone, including some alumni event planner.</p>
<p>I agree with Pamplemoose. In all honesty, I don’t think you should read too much into receiving this invitation. You may very well get in (and I hope you do!), but this is not a likely letter…Dartmouth simply doesn’t send them–in any form–to early applicants. Plus, the disclaimer at the bottom states the invitation was sent to all applicants. </p>
<p>Dartmouth is a warm, welcoming community, so I’m not surprised they want to include as many people as possible to this holiday event.</p>
<p>Eh, doesn’t really matter. I’ll find out on the 7th/10th anyway. Back to the original question, is anyone else coming?</p>

<p>Foggy, you and DS didn’t go to the Dartmouth event last year on Dec 9, did you. I went with my DS and the way he was welcomed and embraced was awesome. I told him I felt like he had been knighted; he said he felt like he had a new family.</p>

<p>I got the same e-mail. Weird, I would have thought more people in our area would be applying to Dartmouth.</p>
<p>snemia - u said one person from ur school that applied ed wasnt on the list…do u know if they got an invite at all though…maybe part of a different email chain?</p>
<p>Yea, my bad guys. Apparently the three people who applied ED (including the one who retracted his application) from my school got it in a batch of emails.</p>
<p>So I guess it’s not meaningful.</p>
<p>I can imagine that if you’re rejected or deferred, you might not want to show up.</p>
