Dartmouth joins the military

Ah, here comes the Democrats again trying to defend FDR. He was an awful president, get over it!

First of all, Roosevelt was a racist. He did not support anti-lynching laws, nor did he allow racial mixing in the military. How could a President be good if he doesn’t serve EVERYONE in his country? He came from a family of opium and slave traders.

His “New Deal” was a sham. During his presidency the unemployment rate averaged 17.2%. That’s enormous! And most experts agree that the New Deal did nothing to lift the United States out of the Great Depression; it was World War II.

Well, it was Roosevelt’s decision to get into war in the first place!!! Also remember, he managed to do it when everyone else was striving for isolationism. Give his some credit, he accomplished alot during hard times in America. What did President Hoover do? My point exactly.

And dont forget, Roosevelt was so great a president that he was the ONLY president who served more than two terms in office. He was an incredible leader.

Hm, I wonder why? MAYBE BECAUSE THERE WAS A CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT AFTER HIS TIME IN OFFICE LIMITING A PRESIDENT TO TWO TERMS? That might be it. Anyways, since when does longevity mean quality? Britney Spears has been around for a long time, but I don’t know anyone who regards her as a great musician. Kia has been selling cars for quite a while now, and I certainly wouldn’t label them as top quality vehicles. FDR might have been better than the alternative, but what’s that saying? Nothing.

And it doesn’t take a “genius” like Roosevelt to declare war when Pearl Harbor was attacked. I could have made that choice. A 1-year-old kid could have done the same.

GET THIS-- He served more than any president before him !!!

"Anyways, since when does longevity mean quality? "

Dude please use some common sense. The greater you accomplishments, the more people want you in service. Isnt that why Bush won second term? I heard that you were majoring in economics, so I beleive it does have to do with the demand for service. The greater the quality, the greater the demand.

You may not have heard of how good Spears is, but probably she’s wanted more in another country. Success doesnt grow in trees, you know. lol

“The greater you accomplishments, the more people want you in service.”

Correction- The greater your accomplishments, the more people want you in service.

loose the insecurity already, no one is going to reprimand you for a tiny little spelling error. I didn’t even notice it until you drew attention to it. geez.

I think it’s terribly hypocritical to criticize Presidents in this manner. I mean, do you really think you could’ve done better? There’s a fine but visible line between acknowledging their imperfections and just downright insulting them and belittling their greatest accomplishments.

Everyone, even the great Presidents, have their faults. Who do you feel were the best Presidents, anyway, if not men of the caliber of FDR/Lincoln?

Wow, good thing I’m majoring in economics and not you. The greater the quality the greater the demand, huh? Economics has no correlation with quality. It involves maximizing our resources to provide products and services to the most amount of people. If your statement were true, we would all be driving around Ferraris, wearing designer clothes, and living in mansions. Please, for the love of God, think before you type.

Looks like I have a lot of stuff to cover. I understand that most Americans view Lincoln and FDR as the best presidents and yes they are all wrong.

Wow I guess primitive has never heard of normal or inferior goods. The higher the quality, the more the demand?!?!? You have got to be joking. Do what uc_ says and think before you type.

If yall want me to go into a rant about Lincoln I will but I’m not going to waste my time if you will not even think critically about it.

well i stopped reading at page 2 but drownindreams is an epitome of the ignorant, naive and propaganda credulous majority

“it always upsets me when people are so adamantly against war. Do you think if we stood around baring our teeth Iraq would be on its way to democracy? We ended slavery, liberated Europe and pacified Japan, we essentially saved Southeast Asia in WWII, helped curb genocide in Africa and other parts of the world, interceded in civil unrest in South America… we started our own country…”

wowwowowow just wow

i think roosevelt did more than declare that pearl harbor was attacked…ph had to happen for US to be able to go to war in WWII for many reasons

Ah here comes the two conservatives to critisize my economics skills.

Did you guys forget about what I said :
" GET THIS- He served more than any president vefore him.Dude please use some common sense. The greater your accomplishments, the more people want you in service. Isnt that why Bush won second term?"

Are you guys afraid of making legit responses? Or you guys dont have anything to defend you disrespect for other presidents and make fun of my economics?

As I thought, most conservatives have no respect for their opponent. I will not be a hypocrite and do whatever you guys do.

BCgoUSC, this is what you said:
“If yall want me to go into a rant about Lincoln I will but I’m not going to waste my time if you will not even think critically about it.”

What is there to think critically about? Lincoln was a great leader and EVERYONE accepts that. Thats the bottom line. No critical thinking required.

uc_benz, this is about the forth time i am telling you this. I thought you were going to discuss Kerry about his record. As I said before , I am ready to defend him. Are you too scared to mention faults on his records? No politician is perfect, but you blame everyone without giving them credit. If you hate them so much, why dont you go to Iraq and bring Saddam as pres?

Now, I dont have anything against Republicsns (other than Bush), but how did you fellow Pres. Hoover do as president? Pretty sucky huh? Now compare him to FDR/Licoln.

Like most people here said, it is shameful that people like you support Bush over the calibers of FDR/Lincoln. These guys were true heroes and I dont get what you have against them.

primitive: What is there to think critically about? Lincoln was a great leader and EVERYONE accepts that. Thats the bottom line. No critical thinking required.

No for your information EVERYONE does not accept that. I don’t. And almost 50-60 college professors associated with organizations such as the Abbeville Institute, League of the South, etc… do not accept that. I suppose you have never read Dr. Thomas J. DiLorenzo’s book title the Real Lincoln. You can not support that statement that you made. The majority of people do believe that he was a great President rather than a centralizing Tyrant, but not all (by any means) do. And you can say that the statement about College Professors is not true but I can link you to the websites and these are big name professors from big name Universities who look critically at our past.

Legit responses? I posted a legit response for all to see. If you can’t see it, well, that’s your problem. I’m not reposting it.

And my question about Kerry was a rhetorical question. It would take weeks, if not years, to write about Kerry’s record (or lack thereof).

And who ever said anything about Hoover? I didn’t claim he was a great president nor did anyone else on the thread do so. You claimed FDR was, so I called you out on it. I could really care less about Hoover.

And thanks kanita for proving my point. I did not say FDR declared Pearl Harbor was attacked; it’s obvious for anyone to see that it was! I said that we entered WWII because of Pearl Harbor. Which we did.

“And my question about Kerry was a rhetorical question. It would take weeks, if not years, to write about Kerry’s record (or lack thereof).”

This is a debate. If you are too lazy to talk about Kerry (which I DO believe you know about), then that is your problem. Even if you do want to talk about him, please tell me stuff that I dont know (I mentioned these points before regarding Kerry’s record).

It may take years (lol) to write about Kerry, but it will take me just one post to blast the entire post. I am THAT confident. So be ready.

And BCgoUSC, i do agree that some people do not appreciate Lincoln. That includes you, uc_benz, and as you said, 50-60 college professors. Did you notice that all those against Lincoln are lame conservatives trying to find fault at one of our most notable presidents? lol.

Dude, try to understand that those that hate Lincoln are less than 1% of the total American population. So their views are totally insignificant. So all your complaints about Lincoln can be at rest since 99% of the American people wouldn’t even care.

If you don’t know what a rhetorical question is, it means I never had any intention of discussing Kerry’s record because it speaks for itself. You and I both know that.

And those are nice statistics about Lincoln! Where did you get them? I would LOVE to see the source.

“Kerry’s record because it speaks for itself”

It sure does and so does your republican leaders. If you are not sure what I am talking about, I will be happy to enlighten you.

My Republican leaders? Oh, you mean the President, the Senate Majority leader, and the House Majority leader? Wow, that’s pretty much all the leaders, huh? Aw, I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to put down the Democratic party for not winning anything. You can’t win 'em all!

I am now confident that you are scared to talk about kerry’s records. Dont worry, my response wont kill you!!
