Dartmouth joins the military

I could care less about Kerry’s record. He lost the election, and he never shows up to Congress. So what effect does he have on me? None whatsoever. If you think his record is so good you can talk about it.

Yeah primitive, I would love to hear the source of those stats because I know a lot of people who find fault with Lincoln and I’m quite sure that it is more than 1%. And it is actually quite easy to find fault with him and if I follow your line of reasoning whereas the minority’s (1%) complaints must be at rest because they are not the minority, then you can just shut up because you supported Kerry and he got the minority of votes, so frankly you can put your complaints at rest.

Oh yeah I guess I better follow in your rhetorical strategies and say dude every ten words.

“shut up because you supported Kerry and he got the minority of votes,”

Bush’s electoral votes = 286 (51%)
Kerry’s electoral vote = 252 (48%)

Bush’s popular votes= 62,040,606
Kerry’s popular votes =59,028,109

So BCgoUSC, do you know what “minority” even means? i guess not. Kerry got 48% of the votes , which definitely doesn’t mean that the minority of people voted for him. Please stop talking stupid and go look up a dictionary before you speak. If it wasnt for Ohio, Kerry would’ve won. But he lost, and that’s the fact.

“First of all, Roosevelt was a racist. He did not support anti-lynching laws, nor did he allow racial mixing in the military. How could a President be good if he doesn’t serve EVERYONE in his country? He came from a family of opium and slave traders.”

Isnt that what you said, uc_benz? Are you truly anti-racist? Too bad the people you stand up for are not. Don’t know what I am talking about? Please read on.

Dick Cheney’s record is infamous for his racist decisions. Let me summarize his votes:

HE VOTED AGAINST THE RELEASE OF NELSON MANDELA.

HE VOTED AGAINST MARTIN LUTHER KING’S DAY.

HE VOTED AGAINST LAWS SUPPORTING HANDICAPPED PEOPLE.

HE SUPPORTED POLICIES AGAINST GAY MARRIAGE. (and yet his daughter is lesbian)

And you talk about morals!! Go figure!! Edwards accused him of all this. Like a true conservative, he diverted the topic and did not defend himself at all. Don’t say I am wrong, I have their speeches right in front of me!!

And you also talk about how terrible Kerry’s records are. If his records were so unappreciated, THEN WHY DID HE SERVE FOR 20 FREAKING YEARS AS SENATOR? !!

Are you joking?!?!
According to the dictionary
Minority: 1. The smaller in number of two groups forming a whole.
2. A group or party having fewer than a controlling number of votes.

Kerry’s votes were the smaller of the two and had fewer than a controlling number of votes.

48% of the votes does mean a minority when 51% voted for Bush.
This is unbelievable.

im kinda only skimming through this thread…but fdr also created internment camps for all the japanese citizens in the country and took away all their money and property…which btw they weren’t compensated for andd idn’t receive a formal apology until the 80s and only those who were still alive could receive about 20 k…
however there is no set criteria on rating presidents, it’s somewhat subjective. However if you’re going to rate fdr based on how well he handled the country at a time of war and the great depression, then he seemingly would rate very high. If you, like me, believe that pearl harbor had been known about prior to the attacks, by our govt officials, then you’d either think that he was highly unethical to jeopardize american lives, or that he was utterly amazing because the US HAD TO enter the war at that time for a plethora of reasons, which include economical reasons but also that lack of US power in WWII at that time just could have resulted in the defeat of the allies. I am by no means agreeing with that earlier person who said we liberated europe and ended WWII and ended slavery (which we started), but if u change any factor you could have had a different outcome.

How could he have anything to do with Nelson Mandela? Nelson Mandela was never held in the United States. We cannot just override laws in other countries.

Wow, it MUST have been because King was African-American right?

I didn’t realize the handicapped were a race.

Once again, I didn’t know the gay were a race. And the fact that every state that had a law concerning this issue had it passed must tell you something. Or is the whole country “racist.”

Primitive, you really are sad. Kerry served 20 years for the same reason that Ted Kennedy did, his constituency continued to elect him. Ted Kennedy is a murderer so I guess that line of reasoning is shot.

Martin Luther Kind was a plagiarist, communist, wife abuser, and filanderer. Cheney and many others voted against the MLK Day holiday - does this mean he was a racist? No. Mandela was a socialist. Does this mean Cheney was a racist? No.

All the good states voted for Kerry anyways :)

Personally, I think the economic interests of the two regions in this country are getting too diverse to be held to the same tariff/trade policies…anyways

I think he was pointing to Cheney’s civil rights/ human rights beliefs more than just strict race

He SPECIFICALLY said race.

I mean primitive still hasn’t supported his comments on minority/majority because they were obviously unfounded.

lol, I’m not exactly sure what he meant either

I’m not ever sure what he means.

wow, you truly defended Cheney buy giving invalid responses. I mean, the first two of my points actually shows that he’s a racist. the other two points were not race related, but they show that Cheney is discriminant. Please JUSTIFY his votes. Why would he vote this way if he wasnt racist? uc_benz, you accuse of FDR of being racist, but you try to defend cheney? How would you defend him, he couldnt defend himself on the debates!!

“Kerry served 20 years for the same reason that Ted Kennedy did, his constituency continued to elect him”

BCgoUSC, what do you mean over here? Are you trying to say that all the time he was a bad politician and people didnt know about it? is it that the people of MA blindly chose kerry as Senator? I suppose not.

“Martin Luther Kind was a plagiarist, communist, wife abuser, and filanderer. Cheney and many others voted against the MLK Day holiday”

Stop complaining about true American heroes. I don’t think anybody could have done a better job than he did. The world accepts that.

“I mean primitive still hasn’t supported his comments on minority/majority because they were obviously unfounded.”

Remember, I am no lousy conservative who diverts topics frequently. Before you make a further big deal out of this, I would like to confess to my mistake and apologise. I made a silly mistake here, and i will not make any excuses.

By my point is that Cheney was racist AND DISCRIMINANT. Let’s see how you guys get out of this one.

My point about Kennedy was that the people continue to elect an utterly immoral and criminal Senator, so what makes us believe that they don’t do the same when the vote for Kerry.

I am not complaining about the effect that MLK had on the world, I am merely pointing out that morally and criminally he was an absolutely horrible person. Just search for MLK and Communist or MLK and plagiarist and you will find thousands of results. Boston University found that he plagiarised about 30% of his Doctoral Dissertation, but did they do anything about it? NO! If I did that, my degree would be gone immediately. The FBI has not even begun to release the MLK files, so you will see how bad of a person he really was in the next few years.

And I’m sorry, but you can not prove that Cheney is a racist. He may have voted against the MLK holiday in 1979 when it was first up, but he voted for it in 1983 when it passed through. And because he voted against a civil rights bill “per se” doesn’t mean he is racist. Correlation does not show causation.

And as to why Cheney would have voted against the holiday if he weren’t racist, maybe he read the report put out by Jesse Helms that showed the obvious lack of morality of MLK and voted against the only holiday to honor a single person with the exception of Columbus Day. I’m fairly sure he didn’t vote against it merely because MLK was black.

why did he vote against Nelson Mandela’s release? why did he vote against
policies supporting the handicapped? Why is he against gay marriages.

Did Nelson Mandela, hadicap people, or gays do anything against Cheney? Why does he have resent for these people? Please explain!! And you say he believes in morality?

Probably he was a plagiarist,a womanizer, or anything else you accuse him to be. But did that affected America? He is regarded as a hero and will never be remembered for his immorality. He was a breakthrough in American History. Just face that. Cheney cannot justify why he didnt support MLK day. He is discriminant agaist people who are not like him, thats the fact.

Although you never respond to my points, I will take the time to respond to yours.

Cheney has repeatedly stated why he didn’t vote for Mandela’s release. The resolution in question was a nonbinding request for S. Africa to release Mandela, but the resolution was packaged with a resolution for the US to recognize Mandela’s African National Congress, a well known terrorist organization. Cheney simply said that he could not vote to recognize a terrorist organization even though he supported Mandela’s release.

As to Cheney and handicapped people, I have searched repeatedly and found no mention of any votes where he voted against the handicapped. If you support your claim, I can help enlighten why he voted in that manner.

Cheney has a well known lesbian daughter, but that does not mean that he has to support gay marriage. Of course he loves his daughter, but he is not bound by some hidden law to support gay marriage although he supports homosexuals having equal civil rights and civil unions.

I believe, in fact, I know that I stated why Cheney originally voted against the MLK holiday, but then later voted for it when it actually was passed. Another thing to note is that Cheney does not believe in increasing Federal holidays, which is one of the reasons he voted against MLK Day. Another important thing to note: Cheney was a Representative from Wyoming which had a black population of <1%, so as a delegate of the people, it is only a logical progression that he would vote against a Federal holiday that many people in his state did not have any connection to. The main reason was frankly that he believed we have enough Federal holidays.

And MLK was immoral and it is sad that America takes everything at face value and will not reevaluate who their heroes are and whether or not those people lived a life worthy of honoring. The end does not always justify the means.

YOU are the one who made these allegations. We shouldn’t be trying to find information to support your egregious claims. Why don’t you try supplying some credible information for once.

Yeah primitive, you have been kind of quiet…
Cant respond to my last post???
