Ted Kennedy looks like Emperor Palpatine sometimes, and other times he looks like Jabba the Hut.

“I believe, in fact, I know that I stated why Cheney originally voted against the MLK holiday, but then later voted for it when it actually was passed.”

Tsk tsk, flip fllopper.

like kerry, “I voted for military funding before i voted against it.”

Take it in context - he supported intial war efforts, but disagreed with the direction the war was going - over six months apart

MLK is cool, we don’t have school on that day

Oh, so it’s alright to send troops into war, but not give them anything later once you realize you don’t agree with it anymore?

Yeah its quite a difference voting to send troops and voting whether or not federal employees get the day off. And Cheney’s votes were 4 years apart, so…

Don’t you just hate it when you spend a lot of time writing a response to someone’s (like Primitive’s) post and then they don’t even bother to respond?
Hmmm…Primitive has been online today but hasn’t responded…
Guess that means that UC_Benz and I won. It’s been fun Primitive.

Right, you all attack Kerry for flip flopping, rather than seeing it for what it really is: changing one’s minds.
Personally, I think this country would be a lot better off if Bush stopped being so stubborn and stopped looking at every situation as black and white, becusae in reality, nothing is clear cut.
And its not like Bush hasn’t flip flopped before on an issue.

And sorry, I dont spend all of my time on a college messageboard.

Well if you look at all of the previous post times, primitive does.

BCgoUSC, sorry for my delayed response. I was at school and thus I had no access to a computer. As you may know, I ALWAYS make prompt responses. I know that you hate me making delayed responses. Dont worry; I feel the same way every time in your case. So its stupid to make a big deal out of this. The funs not over.

Although you never respond to my points, I will take the time to respond to yours.

What a hypocrite! What points do you want me to respond to? I would gladly respond to them.

Cheney simply said that he could not vote to recognize a terrorist organization even though he supported Mandela’s release.

It sounds like Cheneys a flip-flopper. He supports Mandela, and then he doesnt.

As to Cheney and handicapped people, I have searched repeatedly and found no mention of any votes where he voted against the handicapped. If you support your claim, I can help enlighten why he voted in that manner.

I have the debate speeches right in front of me!! Edwards accused him of not supporting policies for the handicapped and Cheney diverted to another topic. Dont believe me? Then go check yourself. You are just trying to defend Cheney as if he was a Saint. Go check the speeches and enlighten me!!

I believe, in fact, I know that I stated why Cheney originally voted against the MLK holiday, but then later voted for it when it actually was passed.

What a flip-flopper!

UC_Benz, nows your turn!

YOU are the one who made these allegations. We shouldn’t be trying to find information to support your egregious claims. Why don’t you try supplying some credible information for once?

Credible information? I got these out of the vice presidential debate speeches! Edwards made all these accusations while Cheney diverted to another topic rather that defending himself. How do you expect me to explain Cheney discriminatory actions if he HIMSELF cannot explain it? THE SPEECHES ARE PRIMARY SOURCE DOCUMENTATIONS!! Even BCgoUSC attempted to explain his actions. If you dont have anything significant to say in response to these allegations, then please dont respond at all!!

Personally, I think this country would be a lot better off if Bush stopped being so stubborn and stopped looking at every situation as black and white, becusae in reality, nothing is clear cut.
And its not like Bush hasn’t flip flopped before on an issue.

BCgoUSC is too thick headed to understand such a simple point.

Well if you look at all of the previous post times, primitive does.

BCgoUSC, you also made A LOT of posts here. This is a debate. Stop making personal attacks. Try being mature for a change. This is no personal insult, just some honest advice.

Here’s a simple point: If Kerry was president, Edwards would have a hard time smiling. :(

Like I said, look at the context - those votes were months apart, and dealt with completely different provisions for the troops.

In addition, no Kerry does not see things in black and white, and yea obviously there’s always a grey area,

but if Kerry was president… the terrorists would have bombed the WTC, and this is what he would have done: he would have spent days, no weeks, no months, no decades, no centuries, no millenia, comtemplating the pros and cons of declaring war on Iraq.

And meanwhile…in Iraq, people are suffering, insurgent are on the loose killing gov officials as well as innocents, and the dictatorship has already been passed through 3 generations.

Finally…Kerry makes a decision, a tentative one, but a decision. He isn’t sure it’s the right thing to do, but yea, Kerry listens to his cabinet just as he listened to his over paid consultants all of whom almost lost him the election. Anyway, subsequent to his final(ly) decision, troops are shipped off to Iraq and the war begins.

(a few months later)
But wait…Kerry has changed his mind! He now wants to withdraw the troops and has decided he wants to work out a peaceful resolution like half of the naive left radicals want (but can’t have). So this new proposed compromise of his is triedn into action.

Unfortunately, not a month after this fatal decision, Saddam has already accumulated millions from oil, killed millions of civilians, and created a mass destruction weapon 10 times more lethal than Oppenheimer’s atomic bomb.

Not surprisingly, back in America, people of all religions, races, doctrines and creed have united to mourn the now adamant failure of their president and most of all a once all powerful and thriving nation.

Okay primitive, Cheney was a flip flopper about the MLK Holiday and I have not done enough research as to why. He is not however a flip flopper about Mandela because he always supported his release but could not support his African National Congress (Terrorist Organization). For him to be a flip flopper, he must have changed his mind on the issue which he never did.

I understand that you are in school and could not respond. I am on spring break and it was hasty of me to assume everyone else was. I apologize on that front.

Debate speeches are not necessarily true. All that Edwards said was that Cheney did not support the rights of the handicapped. He did not point to any proof and nor have you. I will be glad to respond to you on this issue when you come with some proof about Cheney and the Handicapped. With your line of reasoning, anything said in a debate or campaign speech (thus being a primary document) is true which is of course not true. I have been coming with cold hard facts while you have not supported any of your statements except with statements Edwdards made in a debate!

The only reason that Kerry changed his mind on the War issue (according to many political consultants and political scientists) was because of the support that the anti war Howard Dean was drawing from the Democratic base.

I’m still waiting for you to support your earlier statements about Cheney…

can you be specific on what points you want me to address?

When Edwards made all these accusations, you should expect Cheney to defend himself, is that not true? That’s what the presidential debate is all about. But rather defending himself he diverted the topic without any sign of defending himself. If the accusations weren’t true, he could have said that. Since he was on national television, he wouldn’t dare to do so because this would ruin his image as a liar.(Please read the speeches to get a better idea).

You do not need any proof if wheather Cheney disapproved policies supporting the handicapped. When he was accused, he could have simply denied the accusations. But he didnt, which shows that he actually did have something against the policies of the handicapped. the speech is enough proof, it is a primary source document. All that is needed is some reasoning.

But let me get one thing clear, I definitely do not stand for Edwards. Neither am I 100% for Kerry. All I am here in this debate is to stand against Bush and his administration.

if your questions are not yet answered, then please be a bit specific so that I can answer.

You have not provided any evidence of Cheney’s voting record regarding Handicapped people. You have referred to the VP Debate which I was aware of but all that Edwards did was say that he voted against Handicapped people. I want to have some factual support that he voted in this manner. I was not able to find any. I have rebuffed all of the other points that you made about Cheney and explained his behavior, but you have yet to provide any factual evidence.

“Okay primitive, Cheney was a flip flopper about the MLK Holiday and I have not done enough research as to why.”

“I have rebuffed all of the other points that you made about Cheney and explained his behavior”

Wow we definitely have a flip-flopper here!

The word “handicap” was not even said in the vice-presidential debate so I’m not quite sure where you’re getting that from.

And, primitive, if you know the true style of a debate you don’t spend time defending yourself; it is a waste of time. You spend the whole time attacking the other person. I don’t see where Edwards defended himself? Are you calling BOTH of them bad debaters?

Did y’all see that bad earthquake in Indonesia?
Something is wrong with the plates or ocean over there. I mean two huge ones in two months…
