Dartmouth kinda sucks

Yo guys. Lots of u are sayin that Dartmouth is good. I visited during Dimensions and it was like....so boring. i mean its like an ivy leage and stuff but i found the following this to be really annoying, you know?
here it is:
=Everyone drinks. This mite be good 4 sum of u, but you know, u go to learn
=Middle of nowhere. i was like walkin on 1 road w/ only like 5 stores. dartmouth c is the intire town
=no major selection. everyone there is like econ and nuthin else. like ***? is econ even good?
=maaaad cold.
=no one give a crap. like peeps teel me that like no one really care about classes
=professors are screwed up
=maaaaad expensive. imnot an econ major but, supply and demand. no supply (middle of nowhere0 and still demand
=whats up with like all this outdoor stuff?
=nothing to do. i got bored like the first 5 minutes of bein their.

i dunno, right now, i'm leaning twoard duke--so much better.
think you can convince me to go to dartmouth?

convince me as well over duke.

which is more nationally prestigious?
Which will get me into yale law easier?
which is more aesthetically pleasing?
which has a better social scene?

Why would/ should anyone convince you go some to a school which you obviously do not wish to attend? It's the equivalent of trying to teach a pig to dance.. It's a waste of time and it upsets the pig.

Nationally Presitgious: depends what area of country (for civilized regions, Dartmouth wins hands down)

Yale Law: Dartmouth, Dartmouth, Dartmouth....the "League" likes to keep its members for grad school

Aesthetics: Both--Duke is beautiful, but do you really wanna ride a bus to class? Also, Dartmouth has snow, if that helps.

Better Social Scene: Dartmouth, definitely. I have visited TONS of colleges, and on my athletic visit to Dartmouth, I immediately noticed that there was much more going on than at any other school I had previously visited. This is to make up for the lack of activity in Hanover, and it does a great job.

It's not superficial....also, Dartmouth has a MUCH better undergrad focus than does Duke. I'm from the south, and Duke's a great school. Still, it is a GRAD school that also offers an undergraduate education...like so many. This is what distinguishes Dartmouth and Princeton from other top schools--the undergrad focus.

So fill out your form, and send it in!

that is actually true. Dartmouth has a greater national reputation, also top grad schools, dartmouth has a higher placement.

everyone drinks at dartmouth? have u ever been to duke....

econ is the foundation for a liberal arts education. economics sets u up perfectly for many degrees including MBA and law.

no one cares about classes? i beg to differ. dartmouth is a premier institution, more selective than duke. students that go to dartmouth have already cared/worked hard for 4 years in high school, i really doubt they go to college to slack off

so to answer ur questions

more prestige: dartmouth
placement to yale law: darmouth
looks: i liked duke more...dartmouth is really cold
social scene: duke has a larger presence of alcohol and when i visited, it had better parties but dartmouth had a nice social scene as well.

location...dartmouth is in the middle of nowhere and its cold but its really not too far from boston, boston is a day trip or weekend trip. either one. and boston > north carolina

AND dartmouth owns a ski resort. lol. thats enough incentive to go =P

"think you can convince me to go to dartmouth?"

Judging by your post, I would guess it would be about as easy as convincing you to speak English.

You are a troll...come on, be honest, we are a very accepting group. No hard feelings. Now, back into your hole.

(if Duke will let you in...and feed you...I'd go for it!)

It's like wrestling with a pig; you both get dirty and the pig likes it.

Just shoot the pig and stick and apple in its mouth: just in case it continues its blahblah after its been shot.

DMC, you gotta be leaning one way or the other by now ...??? My daughter chose Dartmouth over Duke. She just got that warm-and-fuzzy feeling the minute she set foot in Hanover. It just didn't happen at Duke.

We barged in on a couple of language professors, and they dropped everything to talk to us. Very welcoming. (I guess they have too much time on their hands!)

If we stick a fork in this pig will it be done?

DMC, what's up with you?? Did you go to Dimensions last week? Get off of the fence!!:D :D

Haha, Tell him Sybbie

DARTMOUTH 09' BABY!!!!!!!!

What can I say, I am a total groupie, but whatever

I think DMC had already made up her mind....

So what is it DMC? Either ya running with the big dogs or ya staying home. Gotta make a decision. IF it's Duke, hey we still got love for ya.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=56721

why do you type like a toolbag??

haha...lol, it was just fun. Dog87 and I frequently enjoy baiting each other into fights for fun. After all, I want to be a lawyer.

I'm going to sleep now.

Justblahblah, sounds like D is not the place for you. That is okay. If you aren't sold by the end of Dimensions, pick another school. Good luck!

Yo, what do you mean in civilized territories. As a staunch Texan, I am VERY offended by that comment. Rice is in Houston, and it was one of the greatest places I have been to in a while. We could argue all day about numbers and what not, but these schools are about equal in prestige and academics. This situation becomes one of personal preference.

UNCIVILIZED?? Man, what do u think we do down here? Ride horses and get drunk everyday?!?!?!?!?!?!

Well, we dont do one of the two. haha

if we read the OP's OP- I think we realize we've spent too much time on this thread.

Okay DMC, I'm on the Duke board and its seems to me by your posts that your pretty much ready to head to duke this fall.

im a black man from texas and im going

If you choose Dartmouth it should be by personal conviction and not by persuasion. Nobody is going to beg you to come to the school, so just get over yourself because frankly if you need to be persuaded by others then you shouldn't be at the school period.
