Consolation, thanks for the tip. I got her one, but seeing she is STILL on crutches, she can’t use it yet but will be great when she is mobile again.

Hello does anyone know if T-mobile works in Dartmouth?

Does anyone have a recommedation for a summer storage service in the Hanover/Lebanon area? I’ve seen advertisements from Hanover True Value and DormRoomMovers.com. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hanover true value is great. They will pick up boxes from the room and store them. When student returns in september they will deliver to building. When D graduated, we had them come, pick up boxes/trunk and ship them back home.

D has had great service from Hanover Transfer & Storage. Have always come on time to pickup and deliver.

When and how are Rufus Choate scholars announced?

I believe its via email sometime in July

For the second & third honors groups, it has come in August (ranging from 8/4 to 8/23) the last three years. Email with pdf of letter attached. The second group letter (2012) actually came later than the third group letters (2010 & 2011). I would expect that first group/Rufus Choate is on the same schedule.

I wasn’t aware of the different groups- my S received Rufus Choate (email with pdf) late July 2011.

Thank you! This isn’t on my D’s radar at all. In fact, if she knew about the honors designations, she may start playing (and losing) solitaire head games. ;-)

Hi all-was just wondering if there was a Facebook group for Dartmouth Parents? S is a 17

Hi ctmomtop3, sorry we are faceless parents, I think if we created a facebook group our kids woud disown us.

MagnumPI-I laughed when i read your reply. I hadn’t taken that into consideration. True!

Welcome aboard and enjoy the ride. It goes by quickly. My son is a junior now so my time here on CC is slowing down. When the kids go off to college it is absolutely the best of times. I had to learn to cut the cord over the last couple years and get my own life. My kids just shake their heads and roll their eyes. They are adults now.

But, this is the parents support thread! Thanks again to Courer who set it up. My Dartmouth news feed had an article about protesters crashing the Dimensions show last night. Sad, but it’s been a topsy turvy week in the US, so Hanover is not immune. Hopefully the prospies take it all for what it is worth. Dartmouth is not perfect, but for some kids, it is the right fit. If your son was ED, he will certainly enjoy it. The excitement of the first year was the best. Treasure it and take over this thread!

I think that honors link is a bit dated

Who gets the email? The student or the parent. Are all grades eligible?

Student. Yes, all grades are eligible.

Magnum-Yes, my son was ED. I thought it was nice though that when the Regular decisions came out they sent him an additional welcome letter etc. He wasn’t able to go to Dimensions but is extremely excited about attending College. In fact, he has the worst case of “senioritis” and is so done with High School! I am learning so many ins and outs from this thread. It’s a great resource to us newbies!
