Keeping all other factors constant, which college is most likely to give generous aid to an international student? And does any of these colleges take intake according to major?
Admission might be based on major, but financial aid will not be.
@thenameisi Definitely Dartmouth. It is a richer school than Brown on an total endowment basis and an even richer school on a a per student basis. Actually Dartmouth used to be the only non-HYP ivy that was need-blind for international students until a few years ago, but it reversed the policy because they could no longer afford it. Still it has way more cash to burn than Brown. Brown instituted a no-loan policy for domestic students this year. All the other ivies besides Cornell have had this policy for some time now.
Oh thank you! And does Dartmouth take intake according to majors?
You do not have to apply to a specific major when you apply to Dartmouth.
And that has NOTHING to do with financial aid…at all.
I understand! Thanks!
Dartmouth does not admit by major.
Keep in mind at both schools, your ability to pay will be a factor in admissions. Your needing a generous financial aid package from either school is probably not in your favor especially with the number of international students who will require less of the school’s resources.
