I see a list of impacted majors if doing a google search by each UC. Is there a source of data that lists historical acceptance rates by major? And if not by major, then by College i.e. Letters and Science vs Bio vs Ag at UCD? Looking for UCD, UCLA, UCSB specifically.
For UCB, you can look at OPA – University of California Berkeley . If you click on the Academic Indicators tab, you can derive admission rates for each division (L&S, CoC, CoE, CNR, CED) by ranges of fully weighted (i.e. not capped) UC-recalculated HS GPA (calculate with GPA Calculator for the University of California – RogerHub ).
But note that admission in CoE is by major, and L&S high-demand majors will have admission by major.
UCD admission rates by college. Although the College of Engineering admits by major, UCD does not breakout these admission rates.
L&S admit rate 37.9%
Ag and Env admit rate 39.8%
Bio Sci admit rate 45.9%
Engineering admit rate 29%
UCSB admission rates by College:
L&S 27%
Engineering 22%
CCS 21%
UCLA College of L&S admit rate 10%

Note: I did not post in the Astrology thread as I did not want to stress out kiddos there who are waiting to hear their admission decisions this month as the # of First Time Freshman applications to Berkeley has grown since Fall 2021.

I looked at your slide and thought “wow, EECS admit rate went up to 5.2%?” but then I realized it was 2021-22…
For 2022-23 the EECS admit rate was 4.5% according to this slide (from John DeNero’s videos that have since been made private), and that was still much more favorable than what the folks who innocently applied to CS ended up with… At least now they know they are applying to a “high demand major” with limited admission.

I think the fact that they restricted CS via L&S to a separate track probably helps students understand that it is harder to get into now. In 2022 I think a lot of students were shocked when the L&S CS admit rate suddenly dropped well below EECS.
I’m not surprised that he made those videos private after the negotiations fell apart.

UC Info Center now has admit rates by discipline for Fall 2023 admits. Freshman admission by discipline | University of California
I’m unclear when Fall 2024 information will be included.

Thank you. Another poster had already sent the data link. Usually the UCOP data updates in February so hopefully the 2024 data will be available then.
Berkeley is ahead of the curve. Restricted the #CS Admits in sync with the job market.
