Database for science schools' strengths and weaknesses?

I have been searching for colleges for last few months, and I must say it’s not easy.

I know that I want to go to science and engineering oriented school, and I know few names which I have researched little more on, but I don’t know what exactly those schools are good at.

Right now I am interested in engineering physics and such like that. So when I look at Carnegie Mellon, I know it’s great science school, with amazing computer science program, but I’m not sure about engineering physics and other majors.

is there site that compares characteristics of science school? such as their strengths and weaknesses?

If there isn’t such site, but if you know somethings about RPI and Carnegie mellon, please explain it to me, what are those schools specialized at? what are their strengths and weaknesses?

According to US News, some colleges that are good in engineering physics would be Caltech, Cornell and Berkeley.

RPI and CMU are more focused on engineering than applied science. The only schools I can think of that are better in science than engineering are Harvard, Princeton and Caltech.
