daughter and love

Old poster, new problem, new username, thank you.

Daughter may have some ADHD and/or OCD. She is getting counseling for this and trying medicines. She has good job this summer, camp with kids, on time, no problem. Responsible. She did not get good grades in freshman year college and wants try harder and do better.
She want go visit new love in another state/3hour away and miss two work days in last week for summer. She met this other person only 2 time ever but skype and talk alll summer. I think she rush. She think love. She is 19. Is it her decision? Nice other person but 22 and not college. I worry she put relationship too high too fast. thank you all. Person she love is another girl. So not worried about sx but emotional.

That is a difficult situation, certainly. Talking with her is the first step. Have you talked about it? How did she react?

Why are you not worried about sex? Perhaps your daughter is gay or not sure of her sexuality.

Regardless, I have a 19 year old D as well and I would not be happy about her taking time from a short term job to visit a love she has met only twice who is 3 hours away and that is without regard to the sexual orientation.

You should talk to her calmly and try to avoid yelling.

Good luck.

I think as a parent, you can tell her what you think, you can try to persuade her, and most importantly, you have a parental obligation to listen. But ultimately, at 19, I’d say yes, it’s her decision.

First worry is her emotional. She say she is gay now but in May and June she had boyfriend she push and push him to tell he loves her. He liked her but all too fast. Then another boy to date in July but did not work out. Worry she lookning for love so hard she is rushing anyone interested. When talk with her, she get very angry. Tell her one step at time and she walk off. She says she loved girls before, even when date a guy. This not about gay to me. Also worry she want love so much it affect college in next year. I know I can not control at school. I try speak like mom and she act like young child.
