My daughter can’t make her mind up between stonehill or st anselms. she wants to study criminal psychology and we have looked at both campuses and the idea of the 5 years accelerated masters from st anselms is a huge bonus but she like s the feel or stonehill better. Any insight or options would be great. thanks
Ask for career outcomes…
In the end, you don’t know if your kid will stick with the major or want grad school - although in psych it’s likely needed.
She has wanted this since freshman year so i dont think she will change majors but the idea of not needing grad school or the 5th year master program is why i think stonehill would be better.
I get it - but kids want to do things their entire lives and when get into coursework - they change.
In the end, is budget an issue because many schools offer accelerated programs - is it free?
She has to be on campus four years, day after day. If she likes Stonehill better - is it I love it and don’t like the other - or just they’re both great but better?
If she knows the pros and cons, I’d let her decide.
Maybe talk to student ambassadors at each? Ask them pointed questions - especially a kid in the major.
But looking at career outcomes is always a good thing - and I know Stonehill is very religious. Not sure about the other - but might that play a part as well.
I don’t have knowledge - but I always defer to career outcomes - are these kids getting employed? If I’m paying, I want to know there’s a track record. All schools should have a career outcomes report - by major most importantly - as this is likely not an easy to find a job major.
Best of luck -
If at all possible visit again, stay overnight, go to admitted students events too.
Agree with re-visiting if possible.
After all visits are completed if she prefers the feel at Stonehill then that would be my choice (assuming they are both affordable).
Congrats on her acceptances.
