Daughter going on a camping weekend

Hi guys and girls, my daughter is off on a camping trip tomorrow until Sunday, with her Brownies so I am hoping that we have packed everything that she will need.

At the moment, in her backpack is:

  • Clothes to last that length of time
  • PJs
  • Sleeping bag
  • wash bag (soap, body spray, comb, tooth brush and paste)
  • Waterproof Trousers
  • Fleece jacket
  • Waterproof rain jacket which has a hood she can put up
  • Wellie boots
  • Wooly hat
  • Brownies uniform.

Hopefully I have not missed anything out.

Ah, those were the days! Send a lovey/stuffed animal if she sleeps with one. You can roll it up in the bottom of her sleeping bag if she’s shy about it. Also, bug spray and sunscreen (or give it to the leader). Bandana or pony tail holders if she has long hair. The worst part of taking girl scouts camping is the worries about all that long hair around the campfire! Also, a water bottle, and a tiny daypack that it will fit in. Actually, I’d send two water bottles bc Brownies are at the age where they can lose them. And don’t forget a flashlight and/or headlamp. She’ll have a blast!

Thanks mum, that saves me rewriting my post .

Anyway, I have a question.

My sister wants me to come too (I’m a volunteer at her Brownies) so, should I go or not? I’m kind of stuck in two minds because I am worried about losing revision time, I have a college assessment a few days after we return back from the Easter holidays. However, I also want to go so that I can see if sister is ok and also is obeying the leaders when they are asking the kids to zip their jackets.

Do you have a small towel (that can get dirty)? That might be a good addition. Does she need a water bottle? Also, confirm if she needs her uniform. My troop never did on camping weekends.

If you have time, go. Troops run on volunteer and parent time. It is also great to see your kid interact with their friends.

The only worry I have is, she will come to me to help her tie her shoelaces and zip the jacket and even put the hood up which I would be reluctant to do.

Thats us all packed ready for going, the backpacks are in the car and little sister is fast asleep. When I was tucking her in, she was telling me how excited she is and I even managed to have a chat with her as well about what we are expecting, then I got a cuddle .

Closing thread. It’s too confusing for users to have mother and daughter running Q&A together in the thread, and there is already another thread about the camping trip started by the sister.
