What a young age to lose a dear friend. It seems so unfair to lose a sweet, kind person with nothing but great things ahead of him.

Wow, you say this is the 3rd young person who has senselessly died in your D’s life? That must be so painful to her, you & everyone who cares about both of you. So very painful.

My sincere wishes for healing to your daughter and the family who lost their son.

It is sad that our students are learning to deal with loss of life at such a young age.

The funeral is today…

I feel for you and your daughter, Momma.

momma-three: as a parent of a teen who lost a number of friends tragically, please understand that your daughter is in my thoughts…

I have no idea where in NJ you live; drunk driving deaths, though, seem to be hitting the news with more frequency the past few weeks; didn’t notice this story about young man you are referring to…

please send our condolences…

So sorry Momma-three. Three friends is a lot of loss for such a young girl. I hope your daughter finds peace and closure.

My daughters’ friend was driving at high speed to evade the police who had spotted him speeding. It is believed he had just come from a party and was most likely drinking. The driver of the other vehicle was killed when this boy went head on into his car. My daughter can not believe her friend was the cause of not only his death but the death of another person…a father with a wife and young children. I am even sadder to have learned that he was the cause of this.

^^^So it was your daughter’s friend who was actually the likely drunk driver? How awful for all involved-both families are forever changed.

Someone I loved dearly died as a result of his own drinking and driving. Fortunately he didn’t hurt anyone else, but it rammed home to me that even GREAT, wonderful people, can make horrible decisions as a result of impaired judgment from alcohol. The consequences can be horribly permanent.

I saw an experiment on Dr. Phil or some show. They allowed a group of people who insisted that they were always fine to drive after having just a few drinks to have a little cocktail party. Afterwards they were given a driving test using a large parking lot and cones. Every single person failed the driving test, even those who had only had a couple of drinks. They were all sincerely surprised at how impaired they actually were compared to how impaired they FELT they were.

Condolences to your daughter and all the families involved.

^Yes, he was the cause of this horrible accident. His parents are grieving terribly not only for the loss of their son but for the death of the other driver. What a horrible tragedy.

How tragic momma-three. So sorry.

Yes it’s tough. I lost my best friend the same way. Passenger in a car struck by a drunk driver, in the middle of a sunny afternoon.

sorry for your daughter’s loss

I’m so sorry, momma-three. How awful for the parents of the young man. Not only have they lost their son, but they have to live with the fact that he killed someone. I can’t even imagine how to come to terms with that. Maybe try to reach out to other young men who think it couldn’t happen to them?

I am so very saddened and sorry to hear yet another tragic story of lost lives and drunk driving. We just lost a beloved local police officer who had just gotten off from a drunk driving beat. He was on his way home when he was struck from behind by a speeding drunk driver and killed. So senseless. My thoughts and prayers are with you, your family, and all involved.
