<p>My daughter just learned of the death of a wonderful friend who was killed by a drunk driver here in New Jersey. He just graduated in May and was doing great with a wonderful life ahead of him. I am so sad right now as I was just looking at all the pictures of him on her FB account. It is just devastating and so hard to believe. This really hit home.</p>

<p>That is the worst way to lose a friend. So sudden, so tragic, so senseless. Perhaps in time you and D can think of a way to commemorate all the special things about her friend – some kind of tribute, or annual remembrance ceremony, or some way to celebrate what her life meant to your child. I am so sorry.</p>
<p>Hate to ask – but what’s happening to the drunk driver? His family has their own grief to bear at what he did, but I seriously hope he’s being charged.</p>
<p>^ I don’t know all the details yet but I would imagine he is being charged since he did survive. It is just so horrible and unimaginable that this beautiful young man is gone. A whole life ahead of him and in one quick irresponsible moment he is gone. My daughter has lost three friends in her young life all from terrible senseless accidents. It is just too much to think this sweetheart is no longer here.</p>
