Daughter with social anxiety

<<<
may have overemphasized my wife’s crying-it is recent-she had a stroke (doing better now) and lost her mother all last month so it’s related to all the pressure she has been under-

Ahhh…thanks for the clarification. Previously thought that the mom may be the overly-dramatic type who internalizes everything. So sorry to hear that she lost her mom so recently. That would put anyone on a crying binge…she’s grieving.

Thanks for all your well-wishes everyone.

My fault on not explaining my wife’s situation in detail.

I agree with you seeking a specialists care (child/adolescent psychiatrist) mental health issues can be genetic, some can be caused by external triggers and a psychiatrist would be the expert to guide you . it is important to seek help (which you are doing) and not blame your daughter or yourself for the issue.many people are embarrassed or ashamed by mental health issues it is not a source of shame or failure and getting a handle on sooner than later will help her live a happy and healthy life.
