David Cassidy

Another David Cassidy :(and Bobby Sherman) fan. Although I always ended up liking the lesser star better…because my alleged BFF laid her claim on the big star. /9i guess we couldn’t have a crush on the same celebrity.) In any event, I’m sorry to hear about his troubles…and yes, I did buy a Partridge Family cd that I play in the car on occasion, and yes I do know almost all the words.

I was never a devoted fan, probably a little too old, but he was a talented guy with a troubled life. So sorry to hear this. :frowning:

I wonder how Susan Dey is doing…

I thought Susan Dey was so beautiful!

I saw David Cassidy in Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat about 15 years ago…because it was David Cassidy! I think many of my friends and I all had crushes on him. Loved his beautiful smile and eyes. I was heartbroken when I saw his Dr. Phil episode, and I feel sad for him and his family today. May he pass quickly and a sense of peace surround those who love him the most.

Ok, I’ve relinquished my avatar.

ETA: I think I had that haircut.

David was my first celebrity crush, too. (Although I also had a secret admiration for Danny Bonaduce’s smart aleck mouth.) I sang along to their album a thousand times, perched on my mom’s old hoover vacuum cleaner, using the handle as my microphone, pretending to be Susan Dey. Those were good days.

Sad, but not surprising. He was arrested for DUI a few years back in my area and it made front page news. Pretty sure he had several DUI’s before and after that one.

I was already in high school, iirc, when Partridge Family was on, so was not even watching that show or listening to their music.

This news makes me doubly sad. I was a fan of the Partridge Family as a kid and my oldest brother (who passed away several years ago) looked a lot like David Cassidy. I never can think about Cassidy without thinking of my brother.

A few years ago David Cassidy passed through my town and was arrested for drunk driving. Thank goodness he did not kill someone that night.

Very sad indeed to have a life of substance abuse. The Partridge Family and “I think I love you” et al were great clean, fun entertainment.

Loved him, though Bobby Sherman was my First Big Crush.

My sister and I did the same thing (although we fought over who was Susan Dey and who was Danny Bonaduce)!

My friends and I used to take the album covers (remember those?) from Bobby Sherman and David Cassidy albums and tape them to the end of a broomstick so we could dance around with them, pretending that Bobby and/or David were our dates to the sock hop.

He was definitely my first celebrity crush. But I still have some of his songs on my phone where I keep music for the car or for running, and play the songs enough that my 20 year old knows the words to most of them.

Reminiscing about those days reminds me how wonderful it was to be a child without a care in the world!

My best friend got married as an adult, and for the recessional an acapella group of us sang “I think I Love You” because we were all David Cassidy fans as girls. And Shaun! The taller, blonder, less troubled version of a Cassidy…

Saw David, Peter Noone and Mickey Dolenz in concert a few years ago. Went with D while she was still in college. They played a local casino - the night was a blast.

Peter was happy to spoof himself. His music was great and he was a hoot. Mickey somehow seemed to think he had become an actual musician and took himself way to seriously.

David was on his game musically. But it was sad to listen to him reminisce about his heyday in the Partridge family. He seemed lost, like he never adjusted to the post Partidge Family lack of fame.

I treasure the PF albums and have recently been able to play them again on an actual analogue turntable system. Scratches and all…

RIP David - thanks for all those Friday evenings when you and the PF made being the not so popular kid a bit less lonely.

^ Dietz199 I don’t think he’s passed yet has he??

Alert just came through that he is confirmed to have passed away.
