Posting for my son.
He wants to know if he should submit a 1400 SAT 740 E/660 M? He is applying ED. GPA (UW) 3.9. He has studied their 2023-24 CDS closely. I think the more information, the better. But I do not want to hurt his chances as he is all in for Davidson. Thank you!

IMO it depends on what his application looks like. If you’re son is in an underrepresented group and/or his application leans strongly into the humanities, I’d go ahead and submit as those are decent scores especially the strong verbal/EBRW. If however, his application is geared towards science and/or math AND is not in an underrepresented group, I would consider applying test optional. Good luck to our son! Mine has loved his Davidson experience and like your son applied ED which does seem to confer a measurable advantage. It’s a special place!

My son has received 3 emails from different academic departments at Davidson introducing themselves. Should he respond? He seems to think these are mass mailings.

No need. But, he should do so if he has a particular interest or question. I think the emails are meant to demonstrate to prospective students just how easy it is to interact with professors.

Congratulations to the ED1 admits! You are going to have the most amazing four years.

D25 applied ED2 and “earned a place on the wait list”. She’s disappointed but not devastated. Does anyone have any experience with the Davidson wait list and any suggestions? I was confused with this response from Davidson, as I expected a deferral and then placement into the RD applicant pool as opposed to a wait list spot.

Congrats to all students who have been accepted.

I’d recommend your D sending a letter of continuing interest and any senior year updates (grades, awards, etc.) and possibly another recommendation from a senior year teacher. My son’s first year roommate got in off the waitlist so it does happen.
