I hope y’all are doing well. Now that the college process is coming to an end, I have to make a decision. I am extremely privileged to make a decision between two of my top choices, Davidson and Wake. Now, I realize how lucky I am to have this problem, however, I don’t know which one to choose. I’m leaning Davidson right now due to the strength of their PoliSci program; I’m weary of their grade deflation however. So, I guess I have one main question: How difficult is Davidson and will that prevent me from getting into law school?
Also, academically, do y’all see any point in trying for the Midd and Wes waitlists? My favorite culture is probably Wes, but I’m really burnt out from this process. If it doesn’t make much sense academically, then I don’t really care about pursuing the waitlist.
If you are looking for PoliSci as pre-law, The College Transitions Dataverse claims that Davidson has a very high level of placement at Duke Law, if that is of interest. Wesleyan also does very week in prelate placement at elite schools. There is a long string in the Davidson forum re grade deflation.
Apologies re Davidson, I believe the reference is in not in dataverse feeders but in the Davidson chapter of CT’s Colleges Worth Your Money Guide. You should check out entries there re law school placement stats for each of those schools. Some people will tell you all that matters is GPA and LSAT but I think the top schools really take deflation into account. See Swarthmore being feeder to Yale Law for example.
