DCAD Goal Statement Essay

So, the “prompt” is, “Why do you want to attend the Delaware College of Art and Design and what do you plan to accomplish with your education?”

I really don’t like this kind of essay, but I was thinking of starting off with how I came to the decision of going to art school and then easing into why I’d want to go to DCAD. I’m not quite sure where to put what I’d want to accomplish with my education, since I plan on transferring out of DCAD as soon as possible to either SVA, Temple University, or Pratt for a BFA in Fine Arts with a teaching degree, and a minor in Art History, if possible. And I’m not sure if I should include that I’d like to eventually earn a PhD in Art History at some point in my life. Big goal, I know, but that’s what I’m geared towards for some reason.

Well, any advice at all is welcome and encouraged.

I’m not deliberately bumping my own post, but I’ve been thinking a lot about this essay.

I’ve mainly been thinking about how difficult it is to make an essay like this creative and edgy. I’d like to try and incorporate my artistic sense in this essay, but it seems to be almost impossible.

I’ve been notorious throughout high school for straying off topic in essays; it has always been my weakness, along with organizing my thoughts, obviously.

Inspiration and advice is a necessity, at this point. I’m wrecking my brain and losing sleep over this one essay that I don’t even have to do until September or so. I want to get it all done and over with now so I can work the rest of the summer and fall, and then attend DCAD for the Spring 2011 semester.

I’m rambling now, but as I said, any advice or inspiration would be wonderful.
