It says online that we have until week 6 to change our grading from letter grade to pass/no pass. What does this mean? Does this mean the last day to change is Friday of week 5, which is this Friday, or the Friday of week 6, which is next Friday?

I might be using this for Spanish 2, a class that is not necessary for my major, but required for me to graduate. Do you think it’s worth it to use a P if I have a chance of getting either a C+ or B-? Furthermore, for background info, I’ve already used 1 P before on another GE class. I’m a 3rd year and this will/would be my 2nd P/NP class. The last time I used one was Fall 2009, which was last academic year’s Fall quarter. I’m just concerned about using a P because I’m applying to law school and I don’t want too many of them. Plus, you never know when you just might need another one (especially since I’m taking Spanish 3 next quarter).

I just got my midterm exam back and I got a 78%. My oral exam is tomorrow and I have a feeling I will not get any higher than a B+. Our TA is such a harsh grader, I mean in a class of 28, less than 5 people got A’s on the midterm. Utter BS. What do you guys think?

You take the pass. Law school may interpret it as a C when looking at your transcript, or it may not. You’re GPA is not hurt by a Pass, so at least when you go through the filter you’re GPA will be higher.

You take the C+. Law school will interpret it as it is, and your GPA will go down.

I’d take the pass (1).

You have until 2/11/2011 to declare it.
Last day for undergraduates to change grading basis (optional P/NP) with per-transaction fee through URSA - February 11

But if you can improve and somehow pull off a B/B+, I would go for that.

Thanks for letting me know the date and for your recommendation.

I just wanted to say though that you are wrong where Law schools will see a “pass” as a C or C+. A pass is not factored into your LSDAS GPA, so it won’t count at all. A no pass, on the other hand, will count as a 0 or an F and that will be factored into your LSDAS GPA.

Ah, thanks for pointing that out. I had to google LSDAS.

If you are remotely interested in applying to law school you really should check this forum out:

Haha, I just spent a good hour reading through random forums instead of working on my paper… Hour well spent though!
