We are in a mess and hopefully you can help me sort things out.

We have been with this cable company (T) for 5 or so year and they raised rate every year. Now a new company (C) comes in with a new technology. C offered a faster internet (20M) and a full digital TV signal with two HD boxes at a lower rate.

We promptly cancelled the service (basic TV and 15M internet) from T last Thursday and scheduled hook up service from C for installation today.

Well, T sent a gentleman to our house and offered at the same price of C, plus one month free and 2 premium package. We asked them for a written e-mail to confirm that offer. After getting the e-mail this past Tuesday, we sent an e-mail back stating we accept their offer. On the same day, we called C to cancel the scheduled installation.

The problem is this. Once we accepted the offer from T, all the smiling face and phone call stopped. We called and sent e-mails several times w/o getting any response from T.

At the same time, C called again to offer even lower rate and faster internet. But we already accepted T’s offer in writing.

My question to those experienced, is the e-mail acceptance bidding? Do I have three days to back off? What if T never show up again and keep charging me the old rate?

I know you are really on a tight budget Dad II, and wanted to mention that with Amazon Prime, Hulu, & Netflix, as well as all the free video on youtube and elsewhere, I bet you can get away with canceling your cable.
We havent had cable since the only thing on MTV was music videos. ( about 30 yrs ago)
I would send the company a snail mail letter, but I imagine that if you can prove they recieved the email, that would also work.

Emerald…I’m guessing dadII wants cable for his Internet connection!

DadII…pick up the phone and call the place you do NOT want…and cancel.

The worst thing that could happen is the other company cancels your service, right? But you have good offers from BOTH…so what IS the problem if even both cancel…you just call and get that good offer again.

We have NO loyalty when it comes to our Internet coverage. We change frequently and go with the lowest cost.

We only have basic TV cable…very few channels and only $20. We probably will cancel that too.

I’ve been using clear wire Internet.
$25 inc. taxes a month & don’t have to pay for services I am not interested in.
Comcast/ xfinity keeps sending us mail though and even comes to the door every time they are installing in the neighborhood.

Right. Call and cancel. Worst thing that happens is they hit you with a cancellation fee. Its cheaper than those vacations in the Dominican Republic. Its a matter of perspective.
