Dean List

My GPA is going to be above 3.5. do i have a chance to be on the dean list? is it important?

You’re on the deans list. It’s just everyone with a 3.5 or higher.

Expect an email!

For importance, I guess it depends if you’re applying for grad school or not. I don’t see too much importance for my personal situation, since in engineering future employers look at your experience with just a glance at grades. I don’t plan on going to graduate school either.

I really wish uw had a deans list & a president’s (3.8 or higher every quarter) list like at seattle central community college. I liked getting both of those recognitions every quarter.

so uw don’t have such a thing!

I believe they do.

uw ony has a dean’s list… no president’s list
My GPA every quarter at UW has never fallen below a 3.8, and I only get a dean’s list on my record and letter

if you google uw dean’s list this comes up
[Dean’s List and Dean’s Letters](University of Washington Office of the Registrar)

if you google uw president’s list, it just gives you the same link for the dean’slist

edit:
(btw i just re-read my original comment on here…in case there was confusion, there is a dean’s list, just no president’s list…i was just saying it sucks that uw doesn’t have BOTH types)

That’s great Travelgirl,

What is your major? have u been invited to any honor societies here at uw?

Above a 3.8 should merit Phi Beta Kappa as long as it’s in a Liberal Arts discipline.

I don’t qualify for PBK yet as I need to have accumulated 75 UW credits first…
And Xavi is close, the GPA requirement is 3.77

http://depts.washington.edu/uwpbk/downloads/pbk_requirements_2011.pdf

@travelgirl:

My understanding from a PBK friend is that it’s the top 10% of your Senior Class or top 5% of your Junior Class. So the number 3.77 could change from year-to-year. If that helps.

A tough fight, but well worth it.
