Dean of Elliott: Shocking statement?

Did anyone else attend Friday’s GW Decision Day? The Dean of Elliott said he was “unimpressed with the academic standards at GWU.” He said they were not any higher or any lower than Georgetown, Harvard, and other schools.

WHAT was he talking about??!

I was not there, but could you have heard him incorrectly? It seems from what you said, that he said GW was on par with those schools.

ccJunkie, what I think he was trying to say was that he had taught at both Georgetown and Harvard and he found that GW was equal to both those institutions. For a few seconds he had me confused too. Of the three deans I thought his presentation was the best. I loved his story of being a double major in math and music!

CCJunkie – you did not hear wrong! I heard that too!! Crazy! Someone should call him or something

Yeah, he gave the same schtick at the thing this Monday. What he says secifically is that he is not impressed with their standards because he expects those high standards anyway from (his blatant name drop here) the institutions he was previously affiliated with (GTown, Harvard, Cornell, etc)

oh well i think saying he was “surprised” would be clearer than saying he was “unimpressed”

thanks for the clear up
