To be on the Dean’s List, you must earn GPA at least 3.5 - so my questions is:

how tough is it for a neuroscience or biology major to obtain GPA 3.5 or above on their first semester at Hopkins?

First semester is covered grades, so it’s basically either: fail, pass, pass with Dean’s List. It’s up to you how important that dean’s list is. If you really want it and work hard it is certainly attainable, as many people aren’t as serious during first semester when they know their grades are covered, so the curve should be a little better.

anymore opinions?

The average natural science GPA (according to the registrar’s transcript guide) is a 3.45, so in order to be on dean’s list (3.5) you need to be just above average. Not that hard to do

It’s not hard at all. If you are enjoying what you’re studying and you’re not just coming to college because that’s what everyone told you to do, but you’re here to learn and make something of yourself four years from now, you will do just fine. With just the right amount of effort.
