I’m in the College of Chemical and Life Sciences and I still haven’t gotten a letter or anything for the dean’s list for fall 09? Some of my friends in different colleges within UMD got letters during winter break. What does this mean?

It means that CLFS doesn’t really care that you got Dean’s List. Don’t worry about it-- Arts and Humanities never sends me anything. ResLife will send you something if you get a 4.0.

ohimtired – there was also a delay with some colleges, since some fall 09 courses didn’t take finals until the end of January (so grades weren’t in until February). That being said, somebodynew is right… some colleges don’t really care as much. I got an e-mail from AGNR, but nothing from ARHU.

ohimtired,

DS is in the same department and did not receive a letter. However, he did receive an invitation to the Primannum Honor Society which requires over a 3.6 GPA. Did you receive this?

Oh ok, thanks everyone!

Nope, I didn’t getting anything from Primannum or reslife, I guess I should keep waiting…

ohimtired,

The letter to parents and email to students for the Honor Society were received weeks ago. The deadline to turn in the application, money, and rec’s, essays, etc. for scholarship consideration is today.

There is also some sort of banquet next month for outstanding students. DS’s friend received an invitation, but he did not. So, I’m not sure what’s going on. Check with the department. I think DS is planning on doing the same regarding the banquet. It could be things got lost in the mail or email.

Okay, so here’s the scoop from Chemical & Life Sciences…I called to inquire. Dean’s List cutoff is 3.5. They do not send out congratulatory letters.

As far as the banquet goes: The eligibility to be included is a 3.8 in the fall or the spring prior to the fall. In other words, if you make a 3.8 now, but not in the fall, you would still be eligible for the banquet in the spring. It is every spring that they do this.

The Honor Society is based on a 3.6 gpa. If you had this and didn’t get invited, let me know and I will get you the contact info.
