Dearborn vs. Flint

Which one is better?

Generally Dearborn is considered better than UMFlint

University of Michigan Dearborn is the better school if you cannot get into the Ann Arbor campus or Michigan State Univ.

wait so michigan state is better than dearborn???

Yes, most people would say so.

What do you want to study? Do you want to go to grad school? If so, for what? Personally (read as “anecdotally”), I transferred from Ann Arbor to Flint, lived at home, and saved enough money to double major. After my commitment to the military is fulfilled I plan on applying to several prestigious medical schools.

Again, it all depends on what you plan to do with your life. UM-Flint was great for me as it allowed me to double major, obtain a Master’s degree (in the interim between undergrad and medical school), garner a very strong GPA, and help me develop the faculties necessary for knocking the MCAT out of the proverbial box—not bad for a 23-year-old.

But take this testimonial with a grain of salt as it is simply anecdotal evidence.

As a side note, UM-Flint and UM-Dearborn are largely the same in many respects. Dearborn, however, has what would appear to be a stronger engineering program. Yet UM-Flint has a guaranteed transfer program with Ann Arbor: [Michigan Engineering Transfer Program](http://www.umflint.edu/csesp/EngineeringTrasfer/EngineeringTrasfer.htm)

If you want to study engineering at Ann Arbor (which is completely unintelligible from your original post and, accordingly, this is simply speculation) UM-Flint may surpass Dearborn’s only seemingly demonstrable advantage.

Further, if you wanted to do graduate study in engineering and business, UM-Flint has a dual-degree program with Kettering University which is consistently ranked among the top engineering schools in the nation in some fields:
