<p>No you can’t join their team.</p>
<p>Here’s what you can do:
*You can practice with another team.
*You can become independent
–However, you will not be able to compete at local tournaments, unless you have special permission from the league president
–You will be able to travel to national tournaments (depending on their policy)
-----Yale (September) & UPenn (February), for example, will allow you go as an independent as long as you are with either a parent or another coach has agreed to chaperone you.
*You can start your own team and get a teacher to sponsor the club and commit to being at tournaments</p>
<p>Anyway, debate is amazing. It’s great to travel, compete, and meet new people. (I’m the president of my team.) Hopefully, you’ll be able to get involved & fall in love with it!!</p>
