December 1...but why?

<p>Does Harvard “encourage” kids to submit their apps by December 1 to stagger the apps so that they’re not drowning in candidates later on? And since it’s just a suggestion, would it work against you if you submitted on, say… December 15? </p>

<p>I just realized that today and figured out I have to send my SAT scores and ask my teachers to hurry up the recommendations…</p>

<p>it wouldn’t count against you… it just means they don’t have longer to look at your app… so they have to make a faster decision on yours than on someone else’s who applied earlier</p>

<p>i’m probably sending mine in by the end of that week (about Dec. 5 through the 8… anywhere in that time period)</p>
