December 2010 ACT Math Discussion

I think he is talking about the question with the tent.

I don’t remember the question, just remember the answer

What was the answer to the tent question anyways?

The tent one was 5…for the height?

Then it definitely wasn’t the tent one, cause I remember getting the tent one right, with pythagoream theorem 3^2 + x^2 = 6^2

Yeah I don’t remember the tent question’s answer now. I can’t remember the numbers.

What other tent questions were there?

^Idk. I was wondering the same thing when he said it was the tent one.

My memory sucks

question for the tent one was def 5…100% sure

What were the numbers for the tent question? I forgot what I put down.

Also, does anyone recall getting (12,0) for like the x intercept of

y=1/4x-3 ??

i think it was 6,6,6…because it comes out to sqrt27…wich is 5.2…rounded down to 5

Just looked at the “y=” part of my calculator. I have -16x^2+32x+48…I look at my table…I have X=2, Y=48. FMLLLLL. I think I just saw 48 and forgot that I was looking for 64. There went a 36.

no the tent question was the right triangle, with a total base of 6, but when you divide in half, the base was 3, the hyp was 6 so it comes out to 5

^you just agreed with him…

@holla…yes

Wasn’t there a vertex question?

isn’t there a way on a ti-83 calculator to see what you had previously typed in calculators? like if I wanna find out if i put sqrt of 27 or 34?

Both of those were answers.

Just hit 2nd Enter over and over

nw@ i didnt agree with him, he said it came out to 27sqrt , when it actually came out to 25 sqrt and was a perfect square coming out to 5 not 5.2

Then you are wrong. It was 5.2 rounded down. it even said round to nearest whole number

Either way. Both correct lol

I think we are then referring to different questions.
