Are you sure that’s the right answer? I only got one wrong in the MCQ, and I’m pretty sure I know the question I got wrong. It wasn’t this one. I think that I put the same thing as you – to keep the sentence structure from the original sentence.
@bobthebuilder13 Oh really? I was also thinking there was no way I got this wrong, but I was looking through anSAT document in reddit and the consensus was that “- , then she worked as a” was right. I guess they got it wrong. I’m just trying to find out what I missed :/. It sucks that they don’t give you back your test so you can learn and improve from your mistakes.
@JuicyMango Do you mainly care about single-sitting or superscore? And would you take the new sat if your score didn’t go up in January?
@ambitionsquared I mainly care about single-sitting because I’m also aiming for UC’s which don’t accept superscore. If my score doesn’t go up in January, I’m planning on taking the ACT since I have a lot of friends and relatives who are familiar with the test. Although I may take the new SAT if I qualify for National Merit.
@JuicyMango Dude you are fine. All of the UCs will accept you if you have over a 2150 and good grades. I know about 15 kids from my school who got into all of the UCs, and only 1 of them had gotten a 2300 and only about 5 of them had gotten a score in the 2200 range. Assuming that you have good grades and decent extracurriculars, you’ll get in.
@chyaboi123 Thanks man, that makes me feel so much better :). But I’m also aiming for ivy leagues lol so that’s why I want a 2300 :P. Might as well try since this is the last testing date for the old SAT.
Is your school in California?
Because applying in-state is easier that applying out of state.
@JuicyMango You don’t need a 2300 for Ivies. Just get in the Middle 50 for each SAT section.
I’m so frustrated that I was 3 questions away from a 2310 on my last test (I got 2240). I got a little cocky and blew off writing for my second try, and it dropped from 800 to 710. I think my score would be enough for ucla but I need a higher score for Berkeley. Would you guys recommend retaking if I’m a California resident?
@PartyNextDoor I’m an unhooked asian so its in my best interest to get 2300+ but I guess your right in that it’s not super important. I don’t think my scores are in the middle 50 though, so I guess I’ll aim for that this time around.
@JuicyMango You’re close to the 75th percentile for many of the ivies. A 2290 is phenomenal, and for the ivies, I think you’re set for test scores. I’m in the same boat as you (2330 superscore), and I’m perfectly happy.
@PartyNextDoor It is generally risky to settle for the 50th percentile, especially if someone doesn’t have a unique hook.
@ambitionsquared I feel it’s risky to settle for the 25% percentile, not the Middle 50%.
@ambitionsquared That’s why I’m not stressing too much this time around, because I already have a decent SAT score. But my mom said she would give me 500 bucks if I get 2300+ lol.
@bobthebuilder13 yeah I am lol
@ambitionsquared For UCs, you’re golden
I wanna know why some schools’ 75th percentile act scores are lowers thats sats
eg. columbia 2350 and 34
Brown 2310 and 34
does it imply a 34 gets u up there with 2300 2350 and not the 2250 in the act.org conversion table, or does it mean that students applying with acts happened to have better profiles considering other areas or what?
I think it’s simply implying that fewer students apply with the ACT than the SAT, so there’s probably less of a wide range of ACT scores.
I wish I had that offer @JuicyMango
@krauser126 Lol it’s definitely an effective method of getting me to study :).
