***December 2015 SAT (US Only) Thread***

Sorry if this is a too-late reply, but I got 5 No Errors as well. The Maria was one of the no errors for me, just because I had taken the March 2015 SAT and there was one similar question that used “had had (verb)” correctly - the Maria question made me think of the “had had” one.

December 29th.

Just wondering: this is the first SAT i’ve taken, and I got a 2290 (CR 710, M 780, W 800). CR is always my highest and I didn’t find the ones on this test too difficult so I don’t know why that score is that low…Anyway, should I try the January SAT? I don’t think I can ever go any higher on M and theres a goodchance my W would drop… Also, I am aiming for a 36 on ACT and theres a good chance I can get it. Should I just accept the 2290 and focus on the ACT now?

I would focus on the ACT! Anything 2300 (or around that)+ seems to be good for most colleges

anything around 2300 is great for even the top schools i think? Can anybody confirm?

Why would any admissions committee force the Class of 2017 to take the new SAT? It’s totally unfamiliar territory.

I got a 2360 on the December SAT (CR 760 M 800 W 800; also my first one)… Do you guys think I should study and try to get a higher score on the January one, or no?

@PrimusSeptumus 2360 is basically a 2400 in colleges eyes, and once you’re in the 2300+ it’s hard to bring your score up. Unless you’re confident that you’ll get an 800 in CR to bring your superscore to 2400, I suggest not taking January. Use that money for something useful like Fallout 4.

Does anyone have helpful tips for improving a critical reading score?

@lilbadger If you didn’t already, Erica Meltzer.

@donaldtrumped Lol Fallout 4 is definitely more useful than the SAT :P.

^^yes indeed it is XD

Im in same boat as PrimusSeptumus except I got 2280 superscore. Lucky I got 710 CR from last month’s 660 CR. Got 800M on November and I doubt I can improve the CR any further and I may only be able to get W to 800 from 770 if I get lucky. Is it worth retaking? I’d have to actually study instead of what I’d planned on doing: studying for SAT IIs and APs.

I got 780CR 800Math 690WR(710before)
I’m aiming for caltech, pomona or Harvey Mudd. Is my writing score too bad? It the essay(8) that gets me low score and I don’t think I can do much better on the essay. I’m a chemistry guy. Do you think I should retake? I also have Chem 800, Math2 800.

@krauser126 I don’t think you are in the same boat as primus because he only took it once and received a 2360 whereas you had to superscore your score. Most colleges, especially the selective ones, choose to see all of the SATs you have taken so I do not recommend taking it again. Imo, taking the test several times to maximize a superscore is retarded. don’t retake

Ahh okay. @hilariousbanana Do you think it’ll hurt me that I had a 660 first time in CR and 710 second time.

@krauser126 Yes. Everybody knows colleges hate to see improvement.
/sarcasm
710 is a great score. Congrats!

@ambitionsquared Thanks! ^^ I really don’t want to retake it a third time XD

I need help with one of the December SAT writing questions…it went something like this:
Although she left, she came back to America to work first as a ___ and then as a ___”

I put that the same structure was correct, but I think the right answer was “- , then she worked as a”…why is this so? I’m having trouble seeing the parallelism in this sentence.
