***December 2015 SAT (US Only) Thread***

October: 740M 690W (9 essay) 670R - 2100
December 780M 750W (9 essay) 600R - 2130 (lol that reading score…expected it though)
Superscore 2200

Should I send December even though reading went down 70 points? Will that look bad?

Thanks :slight_smile:

@juicymango i kinda ran out of tests before i could get an accurate gauge… actually blew them off on a new strategy. look at the critical reader and how she categorizes each question. then do the blue book again and mark every error. every error you make you reread the whole chapter of the critical reader and eventually you will get it!

@mochilate1897 I am! Wana make a group and study together?? :smiley: I just got the Barrons book.
@OptimisticLad I’m also taking tha AMC and gonna be prepping for that :stuck_out_tongue: We should all group up!

For all you 750+ scorers in CR…how do you do it? Are there any specific tips that have helped? Any books etc?

@krauser126 let’s do it!
@Cece0499 Other than memorizing vocab, you have to constantly ask yourself questions about the passage while you’re reading, and after you’ve done a lot of practice tests, the questions you almost unconsciously ask yourself begin to look exactly like those that you actually have to answer. The whole point is to be an active reader, looking for purpose, connections, and overall claims.

@krauser126 & @mochilate1897 I’m all for it, but idk if I’ll be much help bc school

@jtuthri2015 yes, I omitted 1 question. how did you know?

@bdragon oh that means our curve was schulz cause 3 wrong was a 760. I knew because nobody else got 780.

Curves for Reading:
-1=800
-2=800
-3=780
-4=760
-5=740

My Superscore:
760r, 800m, 760wr
=2320

Can 10th Graders take the SAT in January? If so, in the case in which I earn a 2300+, do I ever need to take it again?

Yes to the first. No to the second

@Wharton2022 @misophoniax Some schools might force the class of 2017 (2021) and beyond to take the new SAT. Only one I’ve found so far is Virginia Tech, but there’s a definite possibility,

Prep-scholar did a nice post on which college will be accepting the “old” sat for the class of 2018. Since most, if not all, of the colleges that I am considering applying to will be taking the “old” sat for the class of 2018 I decided to take it on December 5. I received a 2320 (780 Math, 800 Writing, 740 Reading), which proves that sophomores are just as able as upperclassmen to attain high scores. Good luck on your future testing!

@Nadzilla

My November breakdown was: 590 M, 690 CR, 760 W
My December breakdown was: 780 M, 650 CR, 680 W

Look at that huge jump in math. Look at that fall in writing and slight drop in reading.

I’m still going to submit both because I have good scores in both tests that bring me to a super score of 2230.

See my point?

@nervusguy

Thanks for the advice :slight_smile:

@OptimisticLad @mochilate1897 pm me your number ill add you.

I have a question regarding my scores and college eligibility:

On this round of tests, I received an 800 in math, 800 in writing, but a 650 in CR. I’m not too disappointed considering the double 800’s, but how detrimental will the CR score be if I want to apply to more selective schools like MIT? 2260 is not quite the 2300+ I desired, although I do have friends with similar scores and extracurriculars who have been accepted to MIT in the past.

Despite studying, the critical reading appears to be my achilles heal, as my last (and highest) score was a 660. It seems like the mid-600’s is where I stand for CR.

I’m majoring in engineering, likely mechanical or electrical.

@krauser126 I dont really have an iphone to do group messaging, do you guys have a gmail or facbeook? i know im such a liability XD

@mochilate1897 Yea sure ill pm you my facebook :stuck_out_tongue:
