I got a 740 CR with minus four D: crazy harsh reading curve; just 10-20 points away from my superscore goal ughhhhh
@PerfectParadox When you say minus 4, do you mean you missed 4 questions or 3 questions? If it’s the latter, then that really is a terrible curve.
I got 6 wrong in reading and got a 710
kinda harsh
tho I really have no idea where I got 5 wrong in passages
I thought I aced it :"/
need tips on how to improve my performance, anyone?
Guys is a 2000 score enough to get into a mid tier UC?
@ratclown yes, a 2000 is in the 90th percentile
Thanks and can it compensate for a below average gpa? My high school is in the top 50 in my state, meaning that is is relatively harder to get a good gpa @Noob99
im not experienced enough to answer that authentically, but sat scores and gpa are different aspects of your profile. There’s a limit to how much a good sat score can compensate for your gpa and vice versa.
Complete bummer…turns out I missed 2 improving-para questions, and I usually ace those -_-.
@noob99 i got the same score as you. Need some help with how I could improve as well.
@misophoniax I can’t figure what I lacked, I thought I was acing it
turns out I got 5 passage questions wrong
This SAT curve was pure evil. Missed one and omitted another question on math and got a 750. On the October SAT, I missed 3 on math and got a 720
@Noob99 Same… I got 5 passage questions wrong and 1 sentence and ended up with a 710. On college panda it says it’s supposed to be 720-740 with 6 wrong, and there was a 5% chance of a 710. Now I’m afraid that the curve on the January test will be reflective of that of this one.
@garyasho2 wow we did exactly thr same xD I need advice on how to improve
I cant know how to improve if I dont know what I was doing wrong
@Noob99 Do a ton more problems. Get some books at Barnes and Nobles and take advantage of their 2 week return policy. Or find past SATs online. Then do those, and see what you got wrong and why. I think this is the most effective, since CB never releases in which areas of passage comprehension you got wrong. Ugh, I got a 2290 composite, and if the reading had been a 740 instead, I would have been done. This is annoying.
thanks!!
how do you guys know when to omit questions?
@garyasho2 what’s your superscore?
And btw, a 2290 is amazing
@chyaboi123 This was my first time taking it, so my superscore is a 2290 as well (710 R, 800 M, 780 W). I’m hoping to improve my reading score to a 750+ to get a 2330+ score in January. And thanks!
@glassflowers I don’t think you should omit at all, unless you 100% have no idea what the question is talking about or how to answer it. But even then, guessing will always be in your favor. For instance, if you omitted and you end up getting that lower score, you will be bitter that you could have gotten it right and increased your score by 10-30 points.
6 wrong in CR (710) 2 wrong in writing and 10 essay (770) and 0 wrong in math (800). Should I retake or is 2280 good enough for any college?
@chyaboi123 That’s false. I got 6 wrong 0 omitted and got a 710 in CR. There’s no way you got 4 wrong 2 omitted and got 680.
