Decent Comp. Sci. MS programs in CA with no Comp. Sci. UG

Does anyone know of any decent public CS MS programs in CA (UC or Cal Sate) for someone who has some high-level coding experience ( i.e. C++/ FORTRAN) and an MS in civil engineering, but no CS undergrad degree?

It seems like a lot of MS programs in CS require/ strongly recommend applicants have a CS degree to be competitive.

You can try taking foundational CS programs to make you more competitive. At least you’ve had calculus and physics. You could take classes in: data structures & algorithms, computer architecture, operating systems, discrete math.

Have you contacted any of these uni’s to ask about prereq’s? Some schools lay out what is required clearly:
[Department of Computer Science :: M.S. Degree](http://www.cs.utsa.edu/graduate/ms/)

It seems like almost all programs want you to have taken pre-req courses before applying. I guess my next question is how do I take the pre-req classes without enrolling as an MS student or as an undergrad? Can I take the classes at a community college, online, or as a non-degree seeking student? Do I need to contact programs directly to have this question answered?

For CSU start here
[CSUMentor - Plan for College - Graduate Students - General Graduate/Post Baccalaureate Admission Requirements](<a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU)

Majors and campuses seem to have limited opportunities. Try contacting graduate departments to see if you have the minimum requirements to apply.
