Decent Schools for B Students?

3.0-3.5GPA :frowning: Know of any decent schools I could still apply to this late? I’m a techie so if anyone can suggest any tech schools that would be great (:

Grades are not important if you are not 4.5-5.0. Once you are out of that competitive bracket, you are in a group that is looking for the “right fit”. What do you like? What kinds of kids do you want to hang out with? What do you want from your college experience? I know 3.0 kids with 2200 on their SATs, so they are still going to go to top tier schools. Are you a 1500 or a 1800 or a 1200 SAT person? That also will mean something. Do you want to go to a school with mentor scholar professors, stay near home, be a football fan? What does your college look like? Don’t worry about test scores or grades, just be who you are and find a school that fits and fits your budget. There is probably a state school where kids just like you are going and it will be affordable and you’ll make tons of friends or you can find a 3rd tier private LAC that wants to have better students than what they normally have and will give you a scholarship. Many of the 3rd tier private colleges have Feb 15 as their application date.
Have you done a fully detailed collegeboard.com search? Make a list of what you want and then go look on **************.com and see what the students have to say. The fact that you are on this website looking for answers already says that you want to go to college, so pick up your boot straps and start looking. Budget is really important. Worcester Polytechnic Institute is a great school for those who only want tech/engineering type students. Think about it, do you want a trade or do you want an education, then go on to grad school for your career. Keep looking you’ll find it!

I think that Drexel, NJIT, Michigan Tech and Illinois Institute of Technology are still accepting applications.

Also try the University of Dayton, Ceaderville U, Bradley U, and Valpariso U, Ohio Northern U, RIT, Case Western, Alfred, Loyola Chicago, DePaul, and Kettering U.

Also, come chance me at Small-Town Junior looking for advice and chances for big-name schools thanks! (you don’t have to)

To be exact my GPA is ~3.5 and my SAT is 1700 (1090 combined). I recently applied to Drexel & Dayton but I don’t know if I can call them safties. I looked up Michigan State and that would definitely be a 100% safety for me but I’m not sure if I want such a big school. Any other thoughts or suggestions?

Also Missouri S&T

Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Auburn, Minnesota, Iowa State.

These suggestions are great. I’m from none of those states though - What out of state schools give more bang for their buck?

loyola is not a “tech school” its more based on liberal arts education
